Command Sergeant Major Lorenzo L. Lewis was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He enlisted in the United States Army on 12 November 1991. He completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advance Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA as a Records Center Telecommunications Operator. He later reclassified to become an Information Systems Operator-Analyst.
