COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR MICHAEL J. LAMKINS Command Sergeant Major U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization Command Sergeant Major Michael J. Lamkins is a native of Greensboro, N.C. and enlisted into the U. S. Army in 1993, as an Indirect Fire Infantryman. He has served as an Assistant Gunner, Gunner, Fire Direction Center Chief Computer, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Observer-Controller, First Sergeant, Plans Sergeant Major, Brigade Rear-Provisional Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major. His assignments include: Task Force 2 and 3, Fort Polk's Joint Readiness Training Center; 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry the Republic of Korea; 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Fort Campbell, KY; Infantry Officer Basic Leadership Course, Fort Benning, GA; 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the 4th Brigade Combat Team, and 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC; and, Command Sergeant Major of 3rd Cavalry, 73rd Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. Lamkins' combat deployments include two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne. His military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy, Airborne and Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School, Combatives I & II, Joint Firepower Control Course, Infantry Mortar Leader Course and Ranger School. He Holds a Master's of Science in Strategic Management.
