-Introduction/how to capture the kids' interest

We will begin class by discussing the recent global warming, El Nino, Hurricane Katrina, and the ice age. We will discuss the four seasons in New England and how those seasons relate to the habitats we've

studied.

-Demonstrations/activities

The second part of class will be outside. The kids will participate in four weather and

habitat stations:

1. Compare the temperature between the shade and the sunlight. Record temperature on

worksheet.

2. Compare the temperature of the asphalt versus the dirt and any other surfaces in the

area. Use your hand. Record relative temperatures.

3. Determine wind direction using as many senses as possible. Looking, Smelling, hearing,

Touching, Tasting? Record wind direction and technique employed.

4. Observe the plants in the playground. What kinds of plants grow where? Record

observations.

-Discussion of results

We will comclude the class with short presentations by each group.

-Possible Q&A material

Lastly, provide careers like geologists, meteorologists.
