TO EVERYTHING A SEASON: A time to gain and a time to lose

On the spiritual path, it is not optional to know ourselves. It's not optional to be willing to make mistakes. Such qualities are essential. They lead to the gradual growth of a person "to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13). The reason we sin and suffer is not because we are weak or wrong but simply because we are human. In this school of humanity sin abounds, but grace abounds even more (Romans 5:21). God uses human imperfection to achieve divine perfection; God uses weakness to create strength (2 Corinthians 12:10); God uses humans to create sons and daughters of God.

Being human means to be imperfect, to be limited, and thus to change and travel on a perpetual journey. Mature spirituality gives us the ability to live joyfully in an imperfect world. This is important because an imperfect world is the only one we have. And if God does not love imperfect humans, God has no one at all to love! We admire the angels today, but we are not and never will be angels.

Teach me the wisdom of the seasons.

Come every week or twice a month, any support is appreciated. We also need a Scripture/Prayer Leader that can assist at each of these sessions as well. Interested in Becoming Catholic?

Are you, a friend or a loved one seeking a deeper connection with Christ through a full engagement with our Catholic faith? This is an invitation to enter into a journey of the heart, mind and soul in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RICIA) at Corpus Christi. Any adult who is discerning whether or not to become Catholic (or to complete the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) is invited to participate. This process to becoming Catholic is established by the church for adults, whether baptized in another Christian tradition, to become Catholic and be welcomed into full communion with the Church.

If you are already Catholic and interested in joining others on this journey as a sponsor, catechist or prayer companion please let us know. To sign up call Anita Timpani at 751-4235.

Disciple of the Month

Bill Wierschem is Corpus Christi's Disciple of the Month for September. Bill is the "behind the scenes" parishioner who is in charge of the whole Scrip Program at our parish. Bill does it all ... making sure our inventory is done, orders the script, finds new offerings of Scrip in our community and makes special orders. He puts in a lot of volunteer hours of time and travel to keep our Scrip program vibrant.

Since the beginning of Corpus Christi, the Scrip program has made a net of just over $300,000 from sales. The next time you see Bill, tell him thanks for being the "Scrip Person."

Thanks, Bill, for your leadership and everything you do to make our Scrip program the success it is today!

Confirmation Registration Begins

Confirmation registration has begun for teens in 10th--12th grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation process will consist of weekly sessions beginning in September concluding in May, retreats, and service opportunities. Sessions will be held on Monday evenings at 6:30--8:30. Registration fee is $50--scholarships are available. Deadline for registration will be at the mandatory Parent/Candidate Meeting on September 16th at 11am. Any questions? Call or email Anita Timpani: (520) 751-4235 or atimpani@

Cub Scouts

Each fall Scouts kick off their annual popcorn sale. Roughly 70% of the proceeds go towards supporting the many great family activities we enjoy throughout the year. Popcorn sales can bring more than fun and adventure. These activities provide fun with a purpose of developing spiritual growth, citizenship, strengthening family relationships, self-reliance, and through hard work goals can be met. Please come support our Cub Scouts on September 8th and 9th for our Annual Popcorn Sale after each Mass. We thank you for your continued support.
