The SAT and ACT are only given a few times throughout the year so don’t wait until the last minute to register. You must register online for either test and include a picture. If you wait until after the test, there will be an additional charge for each score you send ($12-SAT and $13-ACT).College Application Fee WaiversIf you use a waiver to take the SAT, you are entitled to 4 SAT College Application fee waivers. These waivers can be printed from your Collegeboard account. If you use a waiver to take the ACT, you are entitled to 4 ACT College Application fee waivers. See your Counselor for a waiver.Please remember that not all colleges accept application fee waivers. ACCUPLACERIf you are planning to attend a 2 year or technical college you should take the ACCUPLACER exam. The ACCUPLACER is a placement exam that is typically given daily and/or weekly. Contact the school you are planning to attend to find out the schedule and how to register. Additional information for the ACCUPLACER and a study app can be found at .ASVABThe ASVAB is not only a test used to determine military entrance and job placement, but it can be a valuable career interest inventory as well. The ASVAB will be given at SCJ October 17, 2018. Be sure to sign up in the Counselors Office or see MSgt James in the ROTC wing. Additional information about the ASVAB can be found at or . You can also download the FREE ASVAB Mastery study app from Google Play or ITunes OR you can study on . COLLEGE RECRUITER VISITS and TOURSRecruiters from several colleges and universities will be visiting SCJ this fall. Visits will be advertised on the bulletin board outside of the counselor’s office and announced. Space is limited so be sure to sign up early. Because presentations and/or tours occur during the school day, students must be passing their classes and not have disciplinary issues. Students are encouraged to attend the PROBE Fair at the Savannah State University Gym on Wednesday, September 12th at 6 p.m. Register online at . REQUESTING TRANSCRIPTSTo request a transcript you must complete the transcript request form in the Counselor’s Office.Students may receive 3 free transcripts to apply to college. Each additional transcript is $5. Transcripts requested using your GA Futures account for schools in the state of Georgia are free.Transcripts used to apply for scholarships are free. SCHOLARSHIPSThe scholarship newsletter will typically be available monthly beginning in September. Most scholarship money comes from the colleges/universities that you apply to, so be sure to check out the Financial Aid website for the school you plan to attend.
