Grammar – editing skills

When writing it is important to check your own work; this is called editing. Some points to remember are to always start a sentence with a capital letter. Capitals are also used for the names of people and places (proper nouns). A full stop marks the end of a sentence.

Below is a paragraph from “Bugs Lives On”. Edit the text by placing capital letters and full stops in the correct places.

Hint: There are eight (8) mistakes.

The next day, they visited eight pet shops None of the rabbits looked like bugs. The following morning, joan went out on her own looking for a replacement rabbit. Finally, after driving around all day, she found one on the other side of town

When she got home, she carefully placed the new bugs in his hutch with a bowl of new water, some fresh pellets and two small carrots She felt relieved. Sue and graham would be home that evening
