Introduction
The FirstClass desktop works very similar to the desktop on your computer. It is designed to hold icons that can quickly launch programs as well as it can store files that can quickly be opened from it as well. Many teachers have been known to store important files on the desktop so they can be easily accessed anywhere by simply opening up FirstClass. This help document will show you how to add files and shortcuts to FirstClass programs to your desktop as well as some tips to modify its appearance.
Adding FirstClass items to the Desktop
While using FirstClass sometimes you may want to add an item to the desktop so you can easily see it and use it. To add a FirstClass item to the desktop follow these steps:
1.Navigate to the item you want on the desktop. 2.Right-click on the item to bring up a menu. 3.When the menu appears find the Add to Desktop option and click
it. 4.The FirstClass item will now appear on your desktop.
You can also add items to your desktop by using the Add to Desktop button in the toolbar at the top of the window.
Adding Outside Files to the FirstClass Desktop
FirstClass also allows you to add files outside of the FirstClass program. This can be especially useful because it can work like a backup for files and if you don't have a flash drive it allows you to carry the files anywhere you go because you can just open up FirstClass and download it from there. To add outside files to the FirstClass desktop follow these steps:
1. Make sure you are on the FirstClass desktop. 2. Make sure the file you want to add is closed. 3. Click the File menu. 4. From the menu that appears find and click the Upload option. 5. A new window will appear asking you to navigate and find the file you
want to upload. 6. When you have found the file click the Open button to add the file to the FirstClass
desktop.

You can add files another way as well. If you want to skip the menus you can simply just drag the file from your computer to FirstClass as well.
Important Note: Adding files from your computer adds up to the amount of space FirstClass gives you to store emails, files etc. Be careful when adding files. You can check by looking at the Space Free indicator at the top of the window.
