Jesus Christ Tic Tac Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe – Make a big tic tac toe grid on the floor with masking tape. Divide the girls into two teams, Xs and Os. Each girl gets an index card with the X or O on it (or tape an X or an O on their back or have them wear a piece of paper with a string like a necklace).  Then ask questions about Jesus and if the team member gets it right, she stands in one of the squares. Play continues until one team has three in a row.

Questions

o Was Jesus Christ baptized?

Yes

o Who baptized Jesus Christ?

John the Baptist. John the Baptist has the priesthood authority to baptize.

o Where was Jesus baptized?

John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. (Matthew 3:13)

o What is it called to be placed completely under the water and brought back out of the water? Hint-the 4th Article of Faith

Baptism by immersion

o Why do we get baptized?

To become members of the Church, to be obedient, to get on the strait and narrow path and for the remission of sins. John 3:5

o When you are baptized you make a promise. What is that promise called and who do you promise?

Covenants are promises with Heavenly Father

o You promise to do what when you are baptized?

Obey the commandments, forgive others and follow Jesus Christ. We promise to “come into the fold of God” (to become a member of His Church), “be called his people” (take upon us the name of Christ), “be willing to bear one another’s burdens”, “comfort those that stand in need of comfort” (help others), “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things and in all places” (testify of Christ and set a good example), and “Serve him and keep his commandments.” Mosiah 18:8-13, D&C 20:37.

o Name three other names for Christ

Creator (Mosiah 3:8), Good Shepherd (John 10:11, 27), Bread of Life (John 6:47-48), Savior (D&C 43:34), Rock (Helaman 5:12), Light of the World (John 8:12), Beloved Son (JS-H 1:17), Vine (John 15:5), Messiah, Holy One, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God, Jehovah, Lord, the Son

o Jesus created our beautiful earth and all of the things in it under the direction of who?

Heavenly Father

o Why is Jesus called the Good Shepherd?

He watches over us and shows us the way to go. We hear His voice as we study His words in the scriptures and as we follow His chosen leaders. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, has given His life for us, and He will lead us safely back to Heavenly Father. We are like His sheep when we listen to His voice, follow Him, and remember Him. A shepherd watches over his sheep. He keeps them safe in a place where nothing can harm them. He takes them to pastures where there is good food and water. The sheep know their shepherd’s voice and follow him. A good shepherd would give his life to protect his sheep from danger; he leads them to safety.

o Why is Jesus called the Savior?

Jesus loves us so much that He suffered and died for us. On the third day after His body was laid in the tomb, He arose—was resurrected. He said, “I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved” (3 Ne. 9:22). We come unto Him when we remember Him and keep His commandments. Because He made it possible for us to be forgiven of our sins and be resurrected and return to live with Heavenly Father, Jesus is our Savior (see D&C 43:34).

o Name two of the miracles Christ performed.

Miracles are a gift from God. They are done in the name of Jesus and by His

power. Faith comes before a miracle. Before Jesus was born on the earth, He did many miracles. Jesus made the earth and everything on it. He made the sun, moon, and stars too. He saved Noah, his family, and the animals from the great flood. Jesus made the waters of the Red Sea part so the children of Israel could follow Moses out of Egypt and be free. A miracle from Jesus saved Daniel from the hungry lions, helped Jonah live in the stomach of a big fish for three days, and helped Enoch move a mountain. When Jesus lived on the earth, He did many miracles too. One day Jesus fed 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. After the people ate there were 12 baskets of food left. When Jesus was on a boat, there was a big storm. The men on the boat were afraid. Jesus told the wind and the waves to stop. The wind and the waves stopped. Jesus healed the eyes of the blind so they could see and the ears of the deaf so they could hear. He healed the legs of the lame so they could walk. After His friend Lazarus had been dead for four days, Jesus brought him back to life. But the greatest miracles Jesus did were in the Garden of Gethsemane when He suffered for our sins, and when He died on the cross and was later resurrected.

o Name one of the Old Testament prophets that testified of Christ?

Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14), Micah (Micah 5:2)

o Name one of the Book of Mormon prophets or people that testified of Christ?

Nephi (1 Nephi 11:18-21), Alma This person was Helaman’s father. At one point he was the chief judge and governor as well as the high priest over the people of Nephi. He realized that the affairs of the Church required his entire concentration. He resigned from his political office and preached the word of God. He said, “And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chose vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.” (Alma 7:9-10)

Samuel the Lamanite This person prayed to see and understand the vision his father had received. In answer to his prayer, an angel of the Lord showed him the birth, ministry, and crucifixion of the Savior, Jesus Christ. He said, “I looked and beheld the virgin [Mary] again, bearing a child in her arms.  “And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God [Jesus Christ], yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father!"  (Helaman 14:1-6)

Lehi This person was a prophet and fled Jerusalem with his family. He wandered for many years in the wilderness, endured much affliction, and inherited from God a promised land. He prophesied, as his son recorded it, that “Six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem, a prophet would the Lord God raise up among the Jews—even a Messiah, or, in other words, a Savior of the world”

Abinadi This prophet told King Noah of his wrong doings. He preached of Christ, of his birth and resurrection. He told him that he needed to repent. King Noah got mad and sentenced him to death by fire.

King Benjamin This person was a king over many people. He was getting old and wanted to address his people one last time. They build a tower so that all could hear his voice. During his speech he testified of Christ’s birth when he said, “And he shall be called ‘Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary’.”

King Lamoni This person was not a prophet but he was a king. Ammon came to his land and he put him to work guarding and protecting his sheep. Through Ammon’s testimony he became converted and had many wonderful experiences of which he testified of Christ’s birth by saying, “For as sure as thou livest, behold, I have seen my Redeemer; and he shall come forth, and be born of a woman, and he shall redeem all mankind who believe on his name.”
