IMPORTANT:

Before enrolling in online classes, students should take the self-assessment distance learning survey posted at to determine whether they are ready to take a distance learning class.

CIS101B Computer Applications Lab is highly recommended for online classes. If a student is taking ORI105B there is no need take CIS101B. The ORI105B contains the

Blackboard Orientation taught in CIS101B. Students enrolling in online classes must meet the following criteria:

o View and complete a required orientation session and assignment online for: Term I and Full Semester By 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019

Term II By 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019

Students who do not view the orientation session and complete the assignment by this date will be dropped from the class.

Enrolling in online classes is not recommended if you: (1) are a first-term student (2) are on academic probation (3) need one or more of the following developmental classes (MTH098, ENR098)

Students may not be allowed to enroll in online classes unless the pre-requisites for the classes have been satisfied.

BIOLOGY ONLINE CLASSES

Students enrolled in Biology 103 N000F will be required to purchase a $175 lab kit from eScience. Please contact amanda.huffstutler@cv.edu for more information.

EXAM INFORMATION FOR ONLINE CLASSES:

One major exam or assignment for online classes must be proctored. Students must make their own appointments for a proctored exam/assignment. Available dates and instructions for the exam/assignment are posted in BlackBoard.

Exam Options Option 1: Students may take their exam in the CVCC Testing Center, which is free to CVCC

students. Contact information for the Testing Center is posted on CVCC's website.

Option 2: Students may use another certified testing center, which can be found at

. At least a week before the exam date, email your instructor the contact information of the alternate testing center where you wish to take your exam. Your instructor will then complete the Request for Alternate Testing Center form and forward it to that testing center.

Option 3: Students may take the exam online through ProctorU, a virtual proctoring service.

Appointments with ProctorU must be made at least three days before the exam. Information about ProctorU is posted in BlackBoard. Below are the fees, which are subject to change each academic year.

HYBRID CLASSES

Hybrid classes are a blend of online, computer-based learning and traditional face-to-face classroom instruction.

Hybrid classes require attendance on campus and via the Internet using Blackboard, Tegrity, or other instructional media.

CIS101B Computer Applications Lab is highly recommended for all hybrid classes. If a student is taking ORI105B there is no need to take CIS101B. The ORI105B contains the
