VBS UPDATE: Dear Bethel Church Family and Friends: It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of our decision to cancel this summer’s Vacation Bible School originally scheduled for July 14-17, 2020. While there has been progress made in the fight against COVID-19, there still remains a large amount of unknowns. The health and safety of our children, volunteers, church staff, and families are of utmost importance and our first priority. We do plan to continue with the Rocky Railway theme next summer, 2021. I want to personally thank my team of volunteers and mentors for the e-mails and phone calls over the last several weeks as we explored options for this summer. This was by no means an easy decision, but we are confident it is the right decision. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself directly if you have any questions on our decision. You can reach me via e-mail at kumuluskimmie@ or via phone call at 267-400-6156. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our Children’s Ministry at Bethel United Methodist Church. Reopening of Bethel in the Green!!?Though Chester County is in the Green Phase beginning June 29th, it seems many of us are still a bit uneasy as we continue to adjust to so many changes and restrictions.Holy Communion is scheduled for July 5th?in the Shick Shack Pavilion at 11 a.m.??You can bring your own elements (some have used bread, cookies, any type?juice, water, or raisin bread - which includes the bread and fruit of the vine all in one). Communion stewards will also have provisions - prepared with masks and gloves - if you wish. Remember to sanitize your hands after you remove your mask and partake of the communion elements. We will all be wearing masks and social distancing. Feel free to bring a lawn chair or remain parked in your car. These times demand we stretch the limits of creativity in order to be free as well as exercise?our faith in meaningful and satisfying ways.?Bethel’s Administrative Council meets via Zoom on Wednesday July 8th.?The agenda will include making a decision on which Sunday we will begin gathering for worship.? Whenever Council decides to begin worship again, one plan is for the 8 30 service to meet in the Fellowship Hall while the 10 a.m. service can meet in the sanctuary.?That way there is no need to sanitize between services as the virus disintegrates within a week. ?We are safer not singing?since the viral droplets spread farther and wider with singing, loud speech, etc. we will include?as many distanced solos, instrumentals, recorded music and videos as possible. We will continue to wear masks according to the Governor’s mandate and observe 6 feet social distancing in response to each other’s comfort levels.?Coffee Hour and Choir rehearsal are on hold until helpful guidelines have been established, hopefully before the end of August. Soon some may venture out for meetings. Two-hundred and fifty persons are allowed now, but we may still want to spread out. ................
