Pc22 - M4RCR Memory simm replaced - 8/5/2000 - memory error during startup - "Memory
write/read failure at 00E35010, read E70CE30C expecting E30CE30C - Decreasing memory
available" Extended memory in bios now shows only 13mb instead of 32mb.
Bios knew there should be 32mb, but since restart shows only 14mb; (and (an unrelated ?) "hard
disk controller 1 error", and cd seems not to be detected. (swapped memory chip with Pc15,
another Optiplex Gxi for testing; error identical, it stayed with memory chip).
Pc15 showed "hard disk controller 1 error" when removeable shuttle disk wasn't present so to
cure that message on Pc22, in the bios I set secondary device 0 from auto to none. Primary device
0 is set to auto and there is a disk present, primary device 1 = none, secondary device 0 now =
none and secondary device 1 = none. Given pc22 a 3-button mouseman. (Pc22 was ordered
between 8/97 - 12/97 so should still be under 3-yr warranty.) Discovered that we do have full on-
site warranty on this pc 'till 11/11/2000 and also m4rcp - pc21, m4rcn - ? and m4rck - ?. New
memory simm will bw delivered Tues 9/5/2000. Call made 5/5/2000 - ref: 4001263251 - Prepare
old simm for collection.
