Introduction

Hello, this is Stefan again, and welcome to Module 3, "Setting up your Domain Name and Hosting".

Now that you have decided on a brand name to build your affiliate marketing business around, it is now time to set up the domain name and the hosting for your website and blog. In order to create a website and a blog, you need a domain name and hosting. The hosting is what allows you to host your blog somewhere on the Internet, to host it on someone else's server, to have all of your files in one place. The website that I recommend for people getting started is Bluehost. Bluehost is great because they are very inexpensive, especially when you are first starting out.

As you can see, their hosting plans start as low as $3.95/month. Every hosting out there, you have to pay for every month, or every year, so Bluehost in my opinion is one of the best because they are inexpensive. They have great customer support and they are very reliable as well. To give you an idea, I used to use and recommend "HostSkater" and I had horrible experiences with them, so I have avoided them for the last few years. Bluehost is fantastic. They also give you a free domain name, so that saves you money from having to buy it yourself on GoDaddy.

Usually, domain names cost about $10 or more/year, so that is a little bonus they give you and it is all in one place, so you do not have to link them together. They also have free "Site Builders" and the "1-Click WordPress" install, which is very important because it makes it very easy

for us to set up a blog, which is what I am going to show you in the next video. In order to sign up, you are going to go to their website and click, "get started now", and as you can see, they have a 30-day money back guarantee. You can see that they have different plans. The plus plan is good if you have more than one website and you have a bigger website. I would recommend just starting out with the basic, if you want, or if you want to set up multiple websites, which you are free to do, than you can choose the plus or the pro version, whatever is going to meet your needs the most.

Basic Plan

I am going to start with the basic. A benefit of the basic plan is that it allows you to set up email accounts. For example, my website is Project Life Mastery. I can set up email accounts within that domain name, which is another cool benefit of the plan is that it allows you to have your own custom email. That is important, because when we get to some later modules, you are going to do some email marketing, and you are going to want to have your own email address that is not a Gmail, Yahoo mail or Hotmail email address.

You need to have your own domain name with your own separate email address, so that is going to help you down the road as well. I am going to click on "select here" and now you are going to want to put in the domain name that you are going to want to register. In my case, just for demonstration of this video, I am going to type in Affiliate Marketing Mastery, because I do not own that one yet. If you already have a domain name that you want to use, than you can just put that in here. I am going to take advantage of the free domain name that they are going to give me, so I am just going to do this for a demonstration to show you in this video.

That domain name is available, so I am going to register that one. It is then going to ask you for your account information, so you are going to put that in. I am going to skip that step because I do not want to reveal that sensitive information in this video.

Then, you are going to select your package information, so they have different options. The $3.95 option is when you register longer-term, so it says, $3.95 if you register for 36 months, 24 months is $4.95, 12 months is $5.95, so the longer that you register for, the cheaper that it is, however it is still very inexpensive. This is peanuts compared to when I got started with my online business. I'm just going to do the 36 month one for now, but again, there are different options here that are available, if you want to save a little bit of money and focus more on the short-term.

Here is the price of what it is going to be, the setup fee is free and the primary domain registration is free. You can have domain privacy protection, but that's optional. I often do it because that will protect my personal information; I do not want people to know all my personal information with the domain names that are registered. However, if you want to save money, it is not necessary when you are starting out. However, for me, because I've got a big brand and a name, I like to be more private, so I usually select this option. Again, you don't need to if you don't want to.

Site back up pro, we do not need that, it has just to back things up. There are other plug-ins and ways that I could show you to back things up. Maybe once you build a very big blog and you have a lot of content, you will want to invest a little more on backing things up. Search Engine Jumpstart, you do not need that, SiteLock Security; you do not need that as well. These are some additional upsells. Put in your credit card information, make a payment, and then I'll show you the next steps in the next part of this video.
