There are many ways to fund your college education. You may be eligible for Institutional Aid, Public Aid, or Private Aid/ Scholarships.
Institutional Aid
The individual school you go to supplies the aid. These scholarships may be need based or merit based.
Public Aid
• Grants and scholarships are monies that are applied directly towards your education and do not have to be repaid.
• Loans will support your college education but must be repaid when you have finished school. Loans usually come with a low interest rate and a reasonable payment schedule.
• Work-study is an opportunity to obtain an on campus job to assist with college costs. You may inquire about those work-study programs in the Financial Aid office.
Private Aid/Scholarships
Support from private organizations, non profit groups, and local businesses. Check the following resources:
• Local civic groups, businesses, religious organizations, community organizations, foundations
• The financial aid office of the college you plan to attend
• The Internet
• The reference section of a public library or a school
• Trust departments at local banks
• Ethnicity based organizations
• Check with your employer or your parents employer for scholarships
• High school guidance office
• Other federal agencies if appropriate (military, etc.)
