Chapter 1

Being Fair

I like to play games at preschool with the other children my favourite game is (add game)

[pic]

When I play (add game) I might not always win and this can make me feel and upset and angry

[pic]

It would not be fair if I always won, this might make the other children un-happy and they might not want to play with me anymore.

[pic]

Other children like to win too, this makes playing (add game) fair. When everyone plays fairly all the children will have fun. Sometimes I might win and sometimes I might lose, this is the same for everyone that is playing. When I am fair everyone is happy and I can have great fun.

Chapter 2

Being First

I like to be first, it is hard when I am not first in the line it makes me mad.

[pic]

Other kids like to be first sometimes too. I can’t always be first this is not fair, I need to share being first with the other children.

[pic]

I might not like where I have to stand in the line at school, but it won’t be long till I can be first again.

[pic]

When I take turns to be first everyone is happy, this makes me happy too.

Chapter 3

Being safe in the classroom

I need to remember some rules that keep me safe at preschool.

[pic]

One of the rules in preschool is to not do things that might hurt me, or somebody else.

[pic]

If I hurt someone this is not very nice and it will upset them. People don’t want me to hurt them. I don’t like it if some one hurts me it makes me sad.

[pic]

I should remember it is not funny when somebody is hurt or unwell. I would not like it if I was unwell in preschool and the other children laughed at me.

Chapter 4

Biting my friends

I like to play and have fun with the other children in preschool.

[pic]

When I play with the children in preschool, I like to get my own way.

[pic]

Sometimes when I don’t get my own way I get upset. When I get upset I bite the other children.

[pic]

The children in preschool do not like it when I bite them. Biting hurts people and makes them sad.

[pic]

When I bite another child it makes them cry and then they don’t want to play with me and that makes me sad.

 [pic]

When I get upset I could tell the teacher, or maybe I could use my quiet spot.

[pic]

I will try and remember not to bite when I am upset, and that I should tell the teacher, when I remember this all the children will be happy

Chapter 5

Cheating

Sometimes at preschool I play games, like board games or musical chairs, skittles and traffic lights or card games like snap.

[pic]

If I cheat this makes the game unfair. Cheating is when I make myself the winner, this is not right. This might be good fun for me, but it is not good fun for the other people who are playing with me.

[pic]

The other children will not want to play with me again if I cheat and this will make me sad because I like to play games. If I play the game right and I do not cheat I can have lot’s of fun and so will the other children.

[pic]

This way everyone has a chance to be the winner not just me, and the other children will play with me again.

Chapter 6

Clean up time

At the end of the morning session at preschool it is time to tidy up.

[pic]

I can help the other children tidy up all the toys safely. The toys and equipment are put away ready for tomorrow.

[pic]

If the toys are left out they may get broken, this would mean the teacher would need to throw the toy away. If all the toys were thrown away there would be no more toys to play with.

[pic]

I like to play with the toys so do the other children, it is a good idea to look after the toys by putting them away safely until tomorrow. That way there will always be toys to play with.

Chapter 7

Climbing on the furniture

At preschool the one of the rules is that I do not climb on the furniture

[pic]

Climbing on the furniture is dangerous because I might fall and hurt myself.

[pic]

If I hurt myself I will be sad. The other children do not climb on the furniture at preschool they follow the rules about no climbing, this keeps them safe.

[pic]

The teacher likes to see me follow the rules and not climb on the furniture she does not want to see me hurt myself and it makes her mad if I can’t follow rules. I need to always remember not to climb on the furniture that way I stay safe like the other children and the teacher will be happy.

Chapter 8

Flushing the toilet

After I have used the toilet my wee or poo will be inside the toilet bowl.

[pic]

I need to flush the toilet so my wee or poop will be flushed away. My helper or the teacher will be able to help me if I can’t flush the toilet.

[pic]

My helper and my teacher don’t mind flushing the toilet for me, the toilet is noisy and sometimes I do not like to hear the noise.

[pic]

I will leave the flushing to my helper or the teacher, this way I won’t have to hear the noise.

Chapter 9

Games that are not my choice

Sometimes in preschool I will not get to choose the game that I play. I might want to play (add game), but the other children may want to play something different like football.

[pic]

Sometimes this makes me mad, and I might feel like having a melt down and shouting at everyone

[pic]

The choice of game is not always mine. Other children like to choose what to play too. If I always choose it would be unfair and no-one would want to play with me.

[pic]

If I am fair and I take my turn to choose the game then everyone is happy. The teacher and the other children like me to be fair when I am fair everyone likes to play with me.

Chapter 10

Good listening

When people talk to me it is usually something that I need to hear.

[pic]

If I do not listen to the person talking I might miss something important.

[pic]

It is a good idea to look at the person who is talking, when I look at them they will know that I am listening.

[pic]

When someone is talking to me, it is a good idea for me to stop what I am doing. Now I can listen to the person who is talking. It is not good for me to carry on what I am doing when someone is talking to me, it might make them think I am not listening.

Chapter 11

I can say Goodbye

Sometimes people say goodbye to me

[pic]

They say goodbye when they are leaving, I can try to say goodbye back.

[pic]

There will be lots of times in the day when I can say goodbye. I can say goodbye to my Mum when I go to preschool.

[pic]

I can say goodbye to my Dad when he goes out. I can say goodbye to my friends and teacher at the end of preschool. It is polite to say goodbye when you are leaving, this is what I will do and it will make everyone happy.

Chapter 12

I can say hello

People like it when I say hello. During the day there will be lots of times I can say hello to people.

[pic]

When I get up in the morning, I can say hello to my family.

[pic]

When I get to preschool, I can say hello to my friends and teacher

[pic]

I can say hello to new people that I meet. It will make people happy when I say hello to them. I will try to say hello to the people I see during the day.

Chapter 13

I go to preschool in the car

I go to preschool in the car with my mum.

[pic]

When I am in the car I need to sit in my car seat and wear my safety belt, this will keep me safe while mummy drives.

[pic]

Mummy will wear her car seat belt too. That way she will be safe in the car.

[pic]

At preschool I can say hello to my teacher and friends. I will have fun at preschool.

[pic]

At the end of preschool it is time go home. Mummy will collect me and she will drive me home in the car.

[pic]

When I am in the car I sit in my car seat and wear my safety belt.

Chapter 14

I go to preschool

In the mornings I go to preschool. I do lots of different things at preschool

[pic]

Sometimes I might get sad when mummy goes home. It is ok to be sad, other children get sad sometimes too.

[pic]

Mummy is busy at home and she will be back later.

[pic]

When it is sunny I can go outside, I can ride a bike, or I might like to play with a ball.

[pic]

I will do lots of fun things in preschool, I sing songs and I listen to stories.

[pic]

At the end of the day mummy will collect me and take me home. I can say goodbye to the teacher. I will be back at preschool again tomorrow and she will be happy to see me again then.

Chapter 15

I need potty

I am not a baby any more, and I do not need to wear a diaper. I must learn how to use the potty.

[pic]

When I feel my tummy telling me I need to go potty I can say "I need potty". I know where the potty is.

[pic]

I might need mummy to help me, it is important that I sit on the potty, so I must take down my trousers and pants and sit on the potty. I can try and go for a wee or poo.

[pic]

When I am done I can wipe my bottom and mum will flush the wee or poo down the toilet and flush. Then I wash my hands all clean again.

Chapter 16

Keeping my hands to myself

When I am in preschool it is a good idea to keep my hands to myself.

[pic]

I should not touch people’s things or their bodies. People do not like it when I touch their bodies or things without them saying I can.

                               [pic]

It is a good idea for me to remember this and to keep my hands to myself. When I remember this everyone is happy.

[pic]

If I forget to keep my hands to myself I might upset people and they might get mad at me, so I will remember to keep my hands to myself
