Kremlin-Hillsdale footballby Logan Baker and Karter DehdeziThe Kremlin Hillsdale football players have been working very hard to keep up with bigger teams that we have been playing against for the past couple weeks. Although we are unhappy with the three losses in a row, we will still work just as hard in preparation for the next game. Even though last season was not very successful, this year we have improved a lot and seek to improve on both sides of the ball for the remainder of the season. District games will be starting soon and the expectation is to come out with a few wins. We appreciate the continued support of the community and want the fans to know that your attendance at the games is a big help to us! Thank you! Battle of the Brainsby Josephine LarsenThe Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic team is in full swing! Your 2019-2020 Varsity team is… Sophie Fosmire, Josephine Larsen, Rachel Reimer, Kim Hatcher, John Rose, and Everett Bonine. Our alternates are Andy Lockhart and Joseph Alcuitas. I went straight to our very own human calculator, Mr. Gossen to ask about this year’s academic news. He stated that he’s excited for this team. He finds us to be upbeat and we’re all ready to compete. Come support our hardworking team of buzzer beaters this year! Kremlin is hosting Districts, Area, and the Cherokee Strip conference tournament.Flu Seasonby Josephine LarsenFlu season is upon us once again. This year it is said to begin in October! If you’ve ever had the flu before, you know very well that you don’t want it again. So how can we prevent the flue and sickness of all kinds in our school? Well let me tell ya. The first thing we can all do is making sure we wash our hands periodically throughout the day. Also make sure you cough into your arm, not your hand. Don’t drink after people; this is an easy way to spread undeveloped germs that could cause the flu. The final thing is, if you’re sick… stay home! Your school attendance is important but the health and safety of our students is even more important.Meet the New Students by Kellie McKeeI started out asking all the new kids at Kremlin all the same questions, so thank you to all the new students willing to be interviewed. Patton: I started out teaching math and basketball in 1998, in Oilton and worked there for seventeen years. I coached a lot of softball, football, driver’s education, and computer science. From 05-09, I was a High School and Elementary principal at Aline Cleo, then in 2009 I switched to being the High School Principal until 2012. Then in 2012, I became the Superintendent at Kremlin. Are there any news worthy things going on at the school from an administrator perspective? Patton: Fast Pitch is coming to an end. Basketball will begin to open up. The end of non-district football is coming to an end, and footballs district games will be starting soon. Band competitions are coming up in October. FFA is in full swing. Our school is above state average in ACT scores. The softball field is done; we’re just waiting on the scoreboard and lights. Last but not least, the elementary bathrooms were recently remodeled. Is there anything you would like to say to the student body? Patton: “Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.” – Jim Rohn.Set goals and have a plan to achieve those goals. Think about what interests you most, and pursue what you enjoy. Be proactive and take control of your destiny as much as you can. There are always unforeseen obstacles and sometimes road blocks, but work at pushing through to attain your goals. You are in a position that you are surrounded by teachers that care about you. Use them now to help you achieve your goals and don’t forget that they will always help you even after you leave. Have a great year! Thank you Mr. Patton for agreeing to take time out of your day and answer our questions, we really appreciate it! Also, a special thank you to the amazing (her own words) Josephine Larsen for conducting the interview! Cross Country Newsby Donny Bell The high school boys cross country competed on September 21st in Cherokee. It was cool, cloudy day and they were down 2 athletes due to illness and oversleeping which were critical to the team. We are in a tight competition with Timberlake as we finished a little bit behind them last year in the school rankings. The team has come up with their top seven runners on the team, which is an important position to have because they are the ones that will compete for us to go to the State meet this year. The top seven runners are Harris Keithly; John Rose; Elijah Espinoza; Everett Bonine; David Grandberg; David Hoover; and Joseph Alcuitas. The junior high and elementary teams ran at this meet and ran hard and scored well also. There are three junior high boys and two elementary boys. On September 24th the team went to Timberlake with all of the top seven runners active. The goal going into the meet was to beat the Timberlake Tigers team. Harris Keithly was the first Kremlin-Hillsdale athlete to finish the race; with John and David G. coming in after him. The high school boys’ team is trying to score as many points possible so they can make it to state. They have put in many miles in practice so they should be in good shape and ready score high at the next race at OBU on October 3rd. It would very much appreciated if you came to the meet to cheer us on as we run, and remember that if you need a schedule, there are some outside of Mr. Voth’s classroom on the wall.Staff of THE BRONCTHE BRONC is being produced this year by Mr. Vaught’s newspaper class. Members of the class this semester are: Josephine Larsen, Logan Baker, Kellie McKee, Donnie Bell, Karter Dehdezi and Kaylynn Brownell. This paper is published at least once a quarter. ................
