2013 Synopsis of the great things of the Archives

January 2013

¡ñ Moved the books and the Lehi City crews fixed the broken

bookcases for us.

¡ñ Set the goal of 2,013 photographs and histories in 2013. We met

this goal early in December. When we set this goal we did not think

we could do it, but it came about.

¡ñ We typed up the tour stories of Carl Mellor. He donated his notes

and stories to the Archives.

¡ñ Started compiling the Original Pioneer Cemetery burials. We have a

listing of nearly 50 people who were buried in the cemetery.

¡ñ The Friends of the Archives was formed and changed to the Lehi

City Historical Archives Board. Initially three people joined the

Board.

¡ñ The People¡¯s Co Op information was greatly increased by the work

of Lynette Harris. Her particular interest expanded our files on the

Peoples Coop.

¡ñ This was the 200th birthday of Porter Rockwell. The first six months

of 2013 included BYU classes coming to visit the archives and also

other writers. Our collection of information was greatly increased in

2013 by donations and research by the Archives.

¡ñ Councilwoman JoAnn Brown collection was donated to the Archives.

This was a tremendous collection of photographs, documents

dealing with Lehi City History and her service in both the County and

the State. JoAnn was the first women city council member in Lehi.

¡ñ Judy Hansen donated a large collection of photographs dealing with

the tearing down of the old Lehi Hospital.

¡ñ Received a collection of Sego Lily Elementary scrapbooks from Carl

Mellor. This is a great collection of memorabilia.

starts this month. We started advertising projects and by the years

end we had fifteen Eagle Projects completed. We have a new map

and plan box, photographs of parts of the cemetery, photograph

documentation books of the Transportation Projects of Lehi, church,

school and parks, Thanksgiving Point, Outlets at Traverse Mountain,

American Fork Canyon, Hutchings Museum, Businesses of Lehi, and

trivia listing from the Lehi Yearbooks. These young men have made

major contributions to the Archives.

¡ñ The year started out with 8,000 items in our basic file. On February

4, 2013 we hit 9,000 items. In December 2013 we passed the

15,000 mark. We almost doubled the information we had in 2013.

¡ñ Started the Almanac Pages on the Lehi Web Page. We added the

listing of Miss Lehis to this page.

¡ñ John Haws donated the Messersmith collection of histories and

photographs to the Archives.

¡ñ Councilmember Michael Southwick got a microfiche reader donated

to the Archives.

¡ñ We received a collection of Biographies from the Daughters of the

Utah Pioneers.

¡ñ In February we expanded with a donation of photographs from the

Broadbent collection and other photographs within the City. We

received a collection of photographs of Porter Rockwell, and a

collection of other Lehi sites. Judy Hansen donated photographs of

Pykettes and the Gaisford printing shops.

¡ñ The Lehi Library and also Lehi High School donated the collection

of Lehi High School yearbooks. They were documented and

cataloged and added to the collection
