ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ ? The bi-monthly SteelBenchmarkerTM United States HRB price for April 25th trended up again for the fourth consecutive time to $1,618 per tonne. The Chinese HRB price dropped down to $676 per tonne. The Western European HRB price fell again, this time by $69 (on a Euro basis, it was also down 45) to $1,400. The World Export HRB price slid down to $1,205 per tonne after rallying up six times. In its three hundred eighty-fifth report, the SteelBenchmarkerTM released 10 steel products and 3 USA scrap prices. Of these, here are four benchmark prices for hot-rolled band April 25, 2022: USA ? $1,618 per metric tonne ($1,468 per net ton), FOB the mill ? up $51 from $1,567 ($1,421 nt) two weeks ago, up $1,206 from the recent low of $412 ($374 nt) on Dec. 14, 2015 and up $1,189 from the low of $429 per tonne ($390 nt) on May 25, 2009. It is up $612 per tonne from the recent high of $1,006 ($912 nt) on Jul. 11, 2018 and up $415 (34.5%) from the past record peak of $1,203 per tonne ($1,091 nt) on July 28, 2008. The new record peak of $2,143 per tonne ($1,094 nt) was reached on October 11, 2021. China ? $676 per metric tonne, ex-works ? down $28 from $704 two weeks ago, up $445 per tonne from the recent low of $231 on Dec. 14, 2015 and up $269 per tonne from the low of $407 per tonne on Oct. 12, 2009. It is up $39 per tonne from the recent high of $637 on Aug. 22, 2011 and down $57 (7.8%) from the past record peak of $733 per tonne on July 14, 2008. The new record peak of $805 per tonne was reached on May 10, 2021. Western Europe - $1,400 (1,307) per metric tonne, ex-works ? down $69 from $1,469 (1,352) two weeks ago, up $1,054 (up 982) from the recent low of $346 (325) on Nov. 23, 2015 and up $829 (up 926) from the low of $571 (381) per tonne on Nov. 23, 2009. It is up $548 (up 702) per tonne from the recent high of $852 (605) on Mar. 28, 2011 and up $196 (16.3%) (up 551) (72.9%) from the past record peak of $1,204 (756) per tonne on July 14, 2008. The new record peak of $1,550 per tonne was reached on March 28, 2022. World Export Price ? $1,205 per metric tonne, FOB the port of export ? down $70 from $1,275 compared to two weeks ago, up $933 per tonne from the recent low of $272 on Feb. 8, 2016 and up $709 from the low of $496 per tonne on Nov. 9, 2009. It is up $432 per tonne from the recent high of $773 on Feb 14, 2011 and up $92 (8.3%) from the past record peak of $1,113 per tonne on July 28, 2008. The new record peak of $1,275 per tonne was reached on April 11, 2022.
