Minimum elementary curriculum requirements

As required by the North Dakota Century Code include English Language Arts (reading, composition, creative writing, English grammar and spelling), Mathematics, Social Studies (including the U. S. Constitution, U. S. History, geography and government, and ND studies, with an emphasis on geography, history and agriculture of this state, in grades 4 & 8) Science (including agriculture), Physical Education, Health (Including physiology, hygiene, disease control, nature and effects of alcohol, tobacco and narcotics).

*Be aware that each of these subsections do not need to be included in each grade…just at some point in grades 1 – 8.

Curriculum requirements for high school

(This is public school requirements and is just a guideline for homeschool students)

-Language Arts (English): 4 units (including literature, composition and speech)

-Mathematics: 3 units

-Science: 3units (including 1 unit of physical science and 1 unit of biology)

-Social Studies: 3 units (including 1 unit of U.S. history, ½ unit of economics and ½ unit United States Government )

- Health: ½ unit and ½ unit of physical education (or)

-Physical Education – 1 unit

-3 units of a) foreign language, b) Native American language, c) fine arts or d) career or technical

-Electives: 5 additional units

Current credits for graduation – 22

*A unit of credit is 120 clock hours. For science and laboratory subjects a unit of credit is 150 clock hours.

END OF YEAR REPORT

John is progressing very well in his reading. He is easily distracted and likes to look at pictures. Math comes easily for him. He understands Math concepts on introduction. He loves to draw and his ability is well above average. He also likes to illustrate books and add his own captions. When motivated he can do a very thorough job. He is very active and has lots of energy. John is promoted to 2nd grade.
