This pattern requires a basic knowledge of quilting technique and terminology. The quilt and block diagrams portrayed are virtual images. The layout and look of your project may differ when using actual fabric.

Cut and prepare the Daisy Applique Pieces using the

Cut 8 strips 2?" x WOF. Cut the strips into 64 rectangles 2?" x 4?" and 4 squares 2?" x 2?".

Cut 6 strips 1?" x WOF. Cut the strips into 136 squares 1?" x 1?" for Border 1.

Cut 8 strips 2?" x WOF for Border 2. Cut 4 strips 4?" x WOF. Cut the strips into 8 rectangles

4?" x 16?" for Vertical Sashing.

Cut 3 strips 4?" x WOF. Sew the strips together and cut

into 2 rectangles 4?" x 56?" for Horizontal Sashing.

Cut 6 strips 17?" x WOF. Cut the strips into 12 squares

1 17?"x 17?" for Pie Backgrounds.

Pink Pin Dot Background Print Cut 4 strips 6" x WOF. Cut the strips into 20 squares 6" x 6"

for Daisy Applique Backgrounds.

Solid Fat Eighths and Fat Quarter Cut and prepare Fruit Applique and Daisy Center Appliques using the solid fat eighths and fat quarter.

Binding We used the red gingham print (C5808 Red).

QU ILT A SSEM BLY

The applique portions of the quilt are made using Lori's applique method. The link below to Week 1 of her previous Bloom Sew Along shows her applique technique.

Daisy Applique

Quilt Center Assembly Refer to the Quilt Photo for sashing and block placement. Sew 3 Pie Blocks together. Sew a green pin dot 4?" x 16?" rectangle to each end to create a row with 2 Vertical Sashing rectangles and 3 Pie Blocks. Make 4 Sashing and Block rows.

There will be 3 Sweetie Pie video tutorials along with Lori's Monday blog tutorials during the sew along.

Pie Slices Prepare 192 Pie Slices following Lori's tutorial. Sew 16 Pie Slices together to create a Pie Unit. Make 12 Pie Units. Center and applique the Pie Units onto the green pin dot 17?" background squares.

Fruit Applique Center and applique the shapes onto an aqua pin dot 8" square. Embroider as needed for each block. After the applique and embroidery is complete, follow Lori's instructions to attach the Fruit Applique to the Pie Block. Use the 16?" Trim-It Ruler to square up the Pie Block to 16?". Make 12 Pie Blocks.

Daisy Applique Center and applique the shapes onto a pink pin dot 6" square. After the applique is complete, follow Lori's instructions to attach the Daisy Applique Units to the Quilt Center. Make 20 Daisy Applique Units.

Sashing and Block Row

Follow Lori's instructions to sew the 4 Sashing and Block rows and the 2 Horizontal Sashing 4?" x 56?" green pin dot rectangles together. Add Daisy Applique Units as instructed to complete the Quilt Center.

Borders Your seam allowances may vary so measure through the center of your quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end to get the length needed. Sew side borders first.

Border 1 Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the green pin dot 1?" squares or use the Seams Sew Easy to omit the marking step. With right sides together, place a green pin dot 1?" square on the corner of a red daisy 2?" x 4?" rectangle. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess and press the seam open. Repeat on the opposite corner to create Unit A. Make 64 Unit As.

Border 1 (Continued) With right sides together, place a green pin dot 1?" square on the corner of a red daisy 2?" square. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess and press the seam open. Repeat on the opposite corner to create a Corner Unit. Make 4 Corner Units.

Corner Unit Referring to the Quilt Diagram, sew 18 Unit As together to create the Right Side Border. Repeat to create the Left Side Border. Sew the Right and Left Side Borders to the Quilt Center.

Sew 14 Unit As together. Sew a Corner Unit on each end to create the Top Border. Repeat to create the Bottom Border. Sew the Top and Bottom Borders to the Quilt Center.

Border 2 Side borders should be 2?" x 76?". Top and bottom borders should be 2?" x 64?".

Border 3 Side borders should be 6?" x 80?". Top and bottom borders should be 6?" x 76?".

Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind and back with your favorite fabric from the Sew Cherry 2! Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt!
