Job Description Job Title: Finance Officer Responsible to: Head of Operations & Resources Salary & Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week, ?22,000PA (?13,200) + 4% pension Length of Contract: Fixed term, initially to 30th September 2024 (with likelihood of extension subject to funding) Office Base: Glasgow Office plus remote working Main Purpose of the jobThe primary responsibility of this job is to produce and maintain accurate financial records for the organisation and on an individual project basis. Produce timely management accounts to allow senior management to make effective financial control decisions. Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo produce yearly budgets and projected cashflows based on multiple income sources including contracts, public funds and other income generating activities To produce monthly reports on income and expenditure for the organisation as a whole and on a project basis.To provide the bookkeeping function including updating books, bank reconciliation, purchase orders, payment and receipt of invoices, petty cash, raising and issuing cheques To support senior management with the production of budgets for new projects and submission of claims and reports to funders on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. To be the lead contact for any external financial queries related to CEMVO Scotland and to ensure financial procedures are followed internally with appropriate checks in place to identify anomaliesTo prepare management accounts for the CEO and Board of Directors and attend board meeting where appropriate to present the financial position To lead on the production of accounts for annual audit and be the first point of contact for auditors To conduct timely and best value reviews on office contracts and ensure that insurance is in place and adequate Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings, including sharing in forward planning and providing information necessary for the effective working of the organisation as a whole Observe and comply with CEMVO’s policies, procedures, systems and standards; contribute to their implementation and development.Undertake any other duties which reasonably fall within the scope and level of the post Personal Specification EssentialRelevant qualification within accounting and bookkeepingAt least 3 years’ experience of providing a similar role Demonstrated financial experience in bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, producing management accounts, allocation of overheads and costs using project based costing, updating income and expenditure on project basis and producing a monthly overview, processing of invoices and budgets and petty cash Working knowledge of Microsoft applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint Ability to organise workload to cope with conflicting priorities and deadlines Effective interpersonal skills to deal with people at all levels including an excellent telephone manner Ability to analyse financial data and communicate it efffectively in writing and verbally Ability to keep accurate and legible records electronically, paper free where possible Desirable Experience of a similar financial role within a third sector environment Knowledge, experience and understanding of working within the equalities sector Working knowledge and experience of accounting software packages such as Sage or quickbooks Applications should have strong reference to the person specification for theadvertised post.
