5611495-234315ALL STUDENTS IN 6TH through 8th GRADE ARE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND THIS FREE PROGRAM PROVIDED BY A GRANT THROUGH NEIU #19 AND THE U. S. Department of Education’s 21ST Century Community Learning Center Program. This Department of Education program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. The program offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.Program is staffed by certificated teachers employed by the South Scranton Intermediate School and NEIU #19The program runs Monday through Thursday, from the end of the school day until 6:25pm.A snack will be provided.Transportation is provided, if needed, limited to 45 students.The After School Program will begin on Monday, September 26th, 2016Daily Schedule3:25 – 3:45pm – Arrival/ Snack 3:45 – 4:15pm – Homework Help4:15 – 5:45pm –Club of Your Choice 5:45 – 6:10pm – Gym/ Outside6:10 – 6:25pm – DismissalParents picking up their children should arrive at the school for 6:05pmStudents can pick the days they would like to attend as well as the activity they would like to participate in, Students can only pick one activity per day, we are NOT rotating this year; we can only take 30 kids per activity on a first come first serve basis:**Homework Help is offered every day before clubs. If a student is present for the school day, but does not attend the program, and there is no written excuse you will receive a call from one of our after school teachers inquiring about their non attendence. If we have to call home more then 5 times; the student will be dropped from the program. Our program begins immediately following dismissal at 3:25pm in the cafeteria. The program runs four days a week. We ask that your student brings with them their homework and planner everyday. Students need to get their planner signed by their core teachers (Math, Science, Reading, English, and Social Studies) so we can ensure that they get their homework done. We are also asking that they bring their AR Book as well. Progress and Report Cards will be checked to ensure students are passing their classes, if at these times a students is failing more than 2 core subjects, they will be dropped from the program until they bring their grades back up.Students will be dropped from the program if they consistently do not get their planner signed, failing more than 2 core subjects, have sustained behavior issues, or have excessive absenteeism. Club DescriptionsMinecraft – A sandbox game on the iPad that allows for skill and time based challenges, as well as building challenges in creative mode.NASA – Interested in astronomy and outer space? Learn all about the stars through interactive science labs, videos, and even get the chance to talk with a real astronaut/ Aerospace Engineer!Mixed Tape- This club is a unique mixture of music, glee club, guest speakers, and career exploration. Expect some surprises along the way. Magic – Fun, games, prizes; Poof or Proof?!!!We Be Bookin- Fantasy, characters, and self-exploration that will increase your love of reading and help you complete your A.R. requirements. ?Board Games- Strategize to beat your friends at your favorite board game and creating your own board game. Even try to beat the clock in minute to win it games.Craft Corner- Make seasonal and edible crafts and pinterest projects, as well as learning how to sew and knit. Cookie decorating and jewelry making included. CSI- Can you guess who "Dun it"???Sift through clues and evidence to find the culprit!!!!!! ................
