RELEASE OF LIABILITY:

C.R.S. 42-6-109(3) Within 5 days the seller has the option to report the transfer of ownership

either online at: mydmv. (select the Report Release of Liability link under Vehicle

Services) or at their county motor vehicle office.

PURCHASE OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS:

C.R.S. 42-3-115 provides that a buyer of a vehicle may operate a vehicle on the highway prior to

registering the vehicle when:

¡ñ The buyer has purchased the motor vehicle within the last 36 hours from a person who

is not a licensed motor vehicle dealer.

¡ñ The vehicle was purchased either on a Saturday, on a Sunday, on a legal holiday, or

between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m.

¡ñ The vehicle is being driven from the place where the seller stored the vehicle to the

place where the buyer intends to store the vehicle.

¡ñ The buyer must carry the bill of sale and proof of insurance in the vehicle.
