[Pages:3]ITEM 683.09220911 ? NETWORK MONITOR SOFTWARE

DESCRIPTION:

Under this item, the Contractor shall furnish and install the Network Monitor Software that will provide the ability to manage the equipment that is installed under the Contract.

MATERIALS:

The Contractor shall supply software that will be installed on a Windows-based project server and Windows-based project laptop for the purpose of monitoring the performance characteristics of the network and all devices being installed for this project.

The software shall meet the following requirements:

1) Network Fault, Availability & Performance Monitoring a. Network Availability & Performance Monitoring ? The software shall monitor network device and interface availability and performance indicators, including but not limited to bandwidth utilization, packet loss, latency, errors, discards, CPU, and memory for SNMP and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) enabled devices. b. Automated Network Device Discovery ? The software shall schedule network scans from an easy-to-use, Web-based discovery wizard. It shall also identify all new network devices installed and ensure the monitoring all of the critical equipment. c. Dynamic and Customizable Network Mapping ? The software shall be capable of dragging and dropping network devices into custom network maps and automatically viewing connections, including Layer-2 link utilization between devices and their real-time status. d. Multi-Vendor Device Support ? The software shall supply out-of-the-box, multivendor device support for complex and growing network environments. The software shall monitor the availability and performance statistics for any router, switch, firewall, VPN concentrator, wireless access point, and other devices that support standard protocols. e. Hardware Health Monitoring ? The software shall provide "at-a-glance" insight into the health of network hardware by monitoring, alerting, and reporting on the state of key sensors including but not limited to: temperature, fan speed, and power supply status. f. Intelligent Network Alerting ? The software shall be capable of quickly configuring alerts for correlated events, sustained conditions, and complex combinations of the state of the devices monitored. g. Statistical Network Thresholds and Baselines ? The software shall be capable of configuring alerts accurately by calculating dynamic baseline threshold data.

2) Easy-to-Use Network Management System a. Intuitive and Customizable Web Interface ? The software shall utilize a Webbased interface that is customizable, intuitive and easy-to-use. b. Drag-and-Discover Performance Charts ? The software shall provide real-time, interactive charts and graphs of key device performance statistics. c. NOC View ? The software shall provide a centralized and customizable network operations center (NOC) view for holistic network visibility. d. Centralized Message Center ? To streamline troubleshooting with alerts, syslog data, events, traps, and other messages in a single interface, the software shall provide a centralized view of all of the notification messages about the network's performance. e. Customizable Performance and Availability Reports ? The software shall be capable of generating customized network performance reports using out-of-thebox templates, as well as automating report creation and distribution. f. Quick, Do-It-Yourself Deployment ? The software shall be able to be downloaded, installed, and deployed in less than one (1) hour.

3) Advanced Network and IT Infrastructure Monitoring a. Network Route Monitoring ? The software shall be able to monitor network route information and receive alerts when issues arise. Also, the software shall provide a view of real-time network route information alongside device information. It shall be able to view routing tables, changes in default routes, BGP transitions, flapping routes, and support for major routing protocols (e.g., RIP v2, OSPF v2 & v3, EIGRP, BGP). b. Network Multicast Monitoring ? The software shall allow for viewing of realtime multicast information in conjunction with device information. Also, the software shall be capable of displaying the route details of multicast nodes and it shall monitor routers, switches and end-points that receive and forward multicast packets. c. Integrated Wireless Polling ? The software shall allow monitoring of wireless, thin, and autonomous access points and their associated clients. d. Custom MIB Poller ? The software shall provide the ability to create a custom poller to monitor any SNMP-enabled device, collect detailed data from MIB tables, and monitor other statistics that are available on network devices. e. Virtual Storage Area Network (VSAN) Monitoring and Reporting ? the software shall provide dedicated views into VSAN devices and quickly identify how much traffic is passing through each device and interface, which ports belong to each VSAN, and which type of media each device is leveraging.

4) System Requirements The unit shall work with the following minimum server requirements supplied for this project: a. CPU ? Dual processor XEON, 3.0 GHz b. Memory ? 3GB c. Hard Drive ? 20GB free disk space d. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher
