Excellent Trojan horse and Malware finder/killer

Excellent Trojan horse and Malware finder/killer

I don’t use # 3 unless I have a problem I can’t fix with #1 and #2

After checking for new updates after installing # 1 and # 2, I like to disconnect my internet cable from the PC or router whatever you have before running the scan.

1. Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users:

Setup these screens as follows.

Check for updates before scanning.

Do full scan

3. Download, install, and run HijackThis:

Post HijackThis log here by joining this free Bulletin Board .

They will tell you what to check mark that is not necessary on your PC.

Do NOT attempt to "fix" anything!

4. Download, and install CCleaner: . Get "Slim" version.

Read CCleaner instruction here: .

Run CCleaner.

Run 1,2,4 every week in that order to be safe. Not 3, unless you have big problems.

EXTRA. Something extra if you want on your PC while you surf. I loaded it.

Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): . It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

P.S. I run ccleaner after surfing. There's a lot of junk it finds.

Something that they mention:

Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!:

NOTE:

If you're currently using Norton (Symantec), or McAfee security tools (antivirus/firewall), I strongly recommend switching to some other product, as soon, as your subscription expires.

- To uninstall Norton, always use Norton Removal Tool:

- To uninstall McAfee, always use McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool:

I don’t use these.

Free alternatives:

1. Firewall - Windows firewall is fine, however it offers only one way protection (inbound). Your personal data is not protected from being sent out. For an excellent two ways firewall, and an antivirus in one package, check:

- COMODO Internet Security:

- standalone free firewall - - free PC Tools Firewall Plus:

2. Antivirus (use only ONE):

- Avast! free antivirus:

- Avira free antivirus:
