INTRODUCTION
This alphabetically organized Catalogue has been developed as a guide to facilitate the selection of training options for settlement workers. Please note that you are responsible for reading the PET documents: “NEW Individual and In-House Training Opportunities for ISAP Funded Settlement Workers - Announcement,” “In-House Group Training Guidelines,” and the “Course Selection Criteria” before selecting courses.
A reminder that courses chosen must be completed before March 31st, 2005 to be eligible for funding. Funding is limited to a maximum of $500. Relevant courses listed act as a guideline only and are not limited to those identified. All courses relevant to the professional education and development of settlement workers’ skills are eligible for consideration, provided that they fall into one of the nine (9) identified categories in the Course Selection Criteria document:
1. Program Support and Monitoring
2. Port of Entry Reception Work
3. Initial Needs Assessment
4. Referral to Community Services
5. Information and Orientation
6. Interpretation and Translation
7. Para-professional Counselling
8. Employment-Related Services
9. Service Bridging
Please note that you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary prerequisite(s) for courses listed prior to registration. Finally, summer 2004 course enrollment deadlines have passed for all colleges and universities unless otherwise specified. If you have any questions about the selection process or the PET project, please contact OCASI.
