Youths are classified as those who are between 16-24 years old and the unemployment rate in 2013 was 7.8%. (Data from June 2013). With this information in mind and taking into consideration you will soon be leaving full time education, it is important to start considering your future options in more detail. As a result, you have set yourself a task to investigate how to plan for a career in business in more detail. Task 1Before you can start to do anything, you must have a career idea in mind. Take some time to think about where you see yourself in 5 years. Once deciding on this information, it is important to investigate more about the particular role you have chosen. Start by researching into where you can obtain different sources of information from and the different types of information available that are related to your career path. You must find at least 5 different sources/types of information and explain these in detail. They must be relevant to your specific career path. This task provides evidence for P11st draft due: 12th September 2014Final submission: Assignment TwoPERSONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLANTask 1You now need a plan of action! This plan needs to be designed to help you to achieve your career aspirations. For this task you need to complete a career plan that allows you to identify your development needs. This career plan will allow you to identify your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis). You will also need to include a qualifications map and a qualifications gap. The qualifications map will illustrate the path you will take to enable you to obtain the relevant qualifications you require. The qualifications gap will highlight the gaps that you have in qualifications to be suitable for the job you have chosen. Create a SWOT analysis and a written document as evidence of your findings. This task provides evidence for P21st draft due: 26th September 2014Final submission:Task 2You are feeling really good about the career plan you have put together. You have decided to put SMART targets against each of the items in your career plan. It is important that you understand the short term is two years, and the medium term is five years. You will need to record your progress towards meeting these objectives and keep any appropriate research documentation, including your CV. Keep a log of what you are doing to achieve your objectives. You must document everything, including writing a CV, research you have conducted and any amendments you have made to your plan. You must also demonstrate time management skills, which will be supported by a witness statement from your teacher. This task provides evidence for P4 & M21st draft due: 27th March 2015Final submission:Task 3As well as knowing where you have gaps in your qualifications, not having the correct skills can also hinder your chances of getting the job you want. You have decided to conduct a skills audit using MS Word. You must look at the skills you require to successfully get the job you want in the future, look at the skills you currently have and identify where there are gaps (where you do not have that skill at all) and also identify the skills you need to improve. There are a whole range of different skills that can be considered including personal skills and ICT skills. Remember you need to include detail, not just a list of skills. (P3)It is all well and good identifying your development needs. However, without researching and identifying methods of achieving these needs, you are unlikely to be successful in achieving your career aspirations. Taking this into consideration you have decided to put together a step-by-step guide to explain, in detail, the methods that you plan to take to achieve the development needs you have identified. (M1)This task provides evidence for P3 & M11st draft due: 26th September 2014Final submission:Task 4It is important to see how far you have gone in achieving these objectives. You need to write a reflection on the research and progress you have made with your career plan. You should include the following information:Research you have undertaken to allow you to achieve your objectives (e.g. have you found out course deadlines/costs etc. to allow you to develop your skills?)Any difficulties you have encountered and how you have overcome theseAny changes/amendments you need/want to make to your career plan based upon information you have found out/difficulties you have facedWhat impact have these developments made in allowing you to achieve your objectives? This task provides evidence for D11st draft due: 27th March 2015Final submission:Assignment ThreeDEVELOPING BUSINESS SKILLSTask 1You have decided you need to build upon the outcome of your skills audit. You need to put together a plan of action that demonstrates how you plan to develop the transferrable business skills you require. This might be measurable (e.g. through acquiring qualifications such as your BTEC Business award), or might require evidence in the form of work experience feedback, teacher observation sheets, and other forms of evidence (e.g. character witnesses). For each of the areas you have identified you must explain in detail suitable methods of developing this business skill. For example, if you have listed “improve your ability to type” as a skill, you may wish to undertake some of the free online typing courses available. You will need to analyse how suitable the option is (pros and cons) – and repeat for all of the solutions you put forward. This task provides evidence for P5 & M31st draft due: 24th October 2014Final submission:Task 2You need to reflect on your plans for developing your transferrable business skills. You need to provide evidence of where you have improved, including any evidence of courses you have completed. You should also include where you are still working towards achieving these goals.
