Alien Invasion: “Wanted” Project Sheet

Student Requirements:

Select an “Invader” species found in the Pacific Northwest. Research, design, publish, and present a high quality informative Wanted Poster/Product (you negotiate another product—video, paper, PA announcement, etc.) using the criteria below.

One library and computer lab research session will be held during class.

Your Presentation and Poster/Product will include:

1. Color photo (electron micrograph, microscopic/macroscopic picture)

2. “Invader” organism description, names (scientific & common), kingdom, and

domain

3. Organism’s M.O. (police jargon for basic biology): how the “Invader” attacks

and spreads through its new habitat; specialized cells/structures/molecules it

possesses

4. Most common method “Invader” uses to arrive in new habitat/ecosystem

5. Hideout of the culprit (where it is most likely to be found – habitat and/or

location of invader on victim

6. Most effective weapons for “Invader’s” control/eradication

7. Most common injury done to an ecosystem or a specific native species

8. An explanation and diagram of the “Invader’s” life cycle

9. News story or research article found during your research

(select 1 of your shorter sources and provide a copy of it)

10. Native home (usual habitat range)

Project Parameters:
