y As believers we need to be careful y If you create it; you own it

y Copyright for life + 70 years y Some prior to current copyright law exempt

and in public domain (Victorian images) y Governmental works no copyright(NASA)

y Permissions still needed y Can give away rights

y BUT have to be specific about rights y For churches more lax; commercial more careful

y READ the TERMS of USE

y Overall U.S. government site on copyright, if you want to know the law and the history of it, this site has it. It is not overly complex or hard to understand.

y A U.S. government site with an explanation of fair use: y y A very readable blog explaining public domain: y y This site consists of a great chart on public domain that contains the specifics about a wide

variety of the dates and types of materials and when they fall into public domain: y y An excellent summary of what is and isn't correct on the web as related to copyright: y y Good article about copyright for educators, but with excellent comments on teaching

morality: y y The site that explains creative commons and links to its search function: y

Also problems: rating required, notification of photographer required, combining with a payment site in unclear ways, commercial restrictions
