Welcome to Keyboarding

Welcome to Keyboarding or Business Computer Technology!

Mr. Chaney

Quail Hollow Middle School

Welcome

Here at Quail Hollow, I would like to welcome you to Keyboarding and Business Computer Technology. I would like to share some information about this course with you. This is a semester long course. In this course, students begin preparing for the Computer Skills Test that they must take and pass during their eighth grade year. This test is vital due to graduation requirements and mandates that in order to receive a NC high school diploma, students must pass the Computer Skills Test. The overall goal of this curriculum and the Computer Skills Test is students will become independent users of technology for school and personal needs.

The use of computer keyboards has become a part of the everyday life of all people; therefore, the ability to use a keyboard efficiently is very beneficial. The earlier students begin using the appropriate keyboarding techniques and software applications, the more proficient they will become on the computer keyboard. The major emphasis of this course will be for students to have the opportunity to learn the proper method of touch typing. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about computer literacy, computer ethics, word processing, and fundamental document processing. Students should also have the opportunity to continue to develop these competencies throughout their academic classes as well. With all of us working together; parents, students, and teachers, each child at Quail Hollow Middle will become proficient computer users.

I look forward to working with you throughout this course. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. School Phone: 980-343-3620, ext 232
