EARLY CHILDHOOD SEFEL TRAINING
EARLY CHILDHOOD SEFEL TRAINING
Welcome to Maryland's Online Training on the Social and Emotional Foundations of Early Learning (SEFEL)
Our training is based on research done at the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL), funded by the Head Start and the Child Care Bureaus in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Center developed evidence-based, user friendly, training modules to help early childhood educators promote children's social emotional development, as well as to address the challenging behavior and mental health needs of children in child care and Head Start. Based on the original training, the University of Maryland Innovations Institute has developed engaging, interactive modules for early care and education providers to use online. The training is divided by age group ? the first is designed for staff in preschool programs, and the second is for infant and toddler program staff. Trainings are divided into four modules, each one containing a preand post- assessment, and downloadable handouts.
Upon successful completion of the four modules, and obtaining a 75% or better on the post assessment for each, participants will receive a Core of Knowledge Certificate.
THE PRESCHOOL MODULES INCLUDE:
Module 1: Promoting Children's Success: Building Relationships and Creating Supportive Environments
Module 2: Social Emotional Teaching Strategies Module 3A: Individualized Intensive Interventions Module 3B: Individualized Intensive Interventions: Developing a Behavior Support Plan Clock hours for Preschool SEFEL- 15 hours child development, 13 hours professionalism, 2 hours community

This free training is funded by the RACE TO THE TOP-EARLY LEARNING CHALLENGE GRANT and available for all early care and education providers.
