WEEKLY THEMED COLOURING SHEET SOURCES (Print 5 at least, one for each day) DAILY MATH, READING AND WRITING UNITS GRADES 1-5Print AS A WEEKLY STUDY PACKAGE by GRADE LEVEL 1-5: -190500330200Note on Reading Daily (ALL GRADES): Reading is EVERYTHING! There is a very good reason why leaders are READERS! Make sure your child reads EVERY day. Books from your home library can be supplemented with free apps that can be downloaded from GooglePlay or AppStore. Pick a book based on our weekly theme to underline its importance. For older grades, let them pick a book that they like.LIBBY Completely free (but you need a library card to use it)Compilation of Free Apple Books: ON MATH LEARNING (ALL GRADES): I have gone through many math teaching sites, and I have found that the Kahn Academy is simply outstanding. They do not have printable lessons, but diligently focus your child in math learning. I am suggesting a schedule based on a paced rate of learning (approx. one hour), but if your child needs to go faster or slower, adjust accordingly. I also would recommend this to younger grades as well, but I wish they had printable drill sheets. (I personally like the feel of math drill-work with pencil and eraser, especially for younger grades learning how to write and conceptualize on paper. Older grades can use a piece of paper/notebook to help them conceptualize and record their problems as they go through the material, but smaller ones will not have the capacity for that extra mile.00Note on Reading Daily (ALL GRADES): Reading is EVERYTHING! Don’t throw out that celery! This project is delicious as well as educational! TUESDAY – Woven Pollinators Woven Butterfly-Use straws or skewers instead of popsicle sticks. Make sure to glue the “X” before you start weaving the yarn through. Use a glue gun for this project. (Kids will need help for that step). I tried getting the tutorial but couldn’t find it. It is pretty self explanatory. You don’t need beads, just wrap a straw/stick with black yarn for the middle and glue in place.WEDNESDAY – Toilet Paper Bee for Younger Kids I think you can handle this one without a tutorial! You will need toilet paper rolls and some construction paper, or some paint!Bee Bookmark for older Kids (I know toilet paper rolls do not cut it for older kids)Tutorial: THURSDAY – Egg Carton Flower BouquetFlower shops are closed, and who DOESN’T need a fix of beauty right now? While the flowers in the garden grow, use egg cartons that are lying around to add some colour to your space! Very easy!Tutorial: FRIDAY – SO much fun! These are great with the smaller ones too, just make sure you have something on the table to save the furniture. Weekly Supply List for ALL ART Units: -Scissors-School Glue-Skewer/Toothpicks-Construction Paper -Egg Cartons-Markers -Acrylic or Tempra Paint-Scraps of Yarn of different colours-Glue Gun and Glue -Toilet Paper Rolls-Popsicle sticks (or tightly wrapped magazines turned into “Straws” or actual Straws to stand in)-Clear tape-Paper towels-food colouring-ice cube tray for food colouring (or plastic containers)-paint brushes (instead of eye dropper for the papertowel craft and for the toilet paper bees)Other Supplies:-Pencils Sharpeners Erasers-Printer Paper -Printer Ink -Binders for your homeworkCREATIVE PLAY AND ACTIVITY UNITS (MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY)-Pretend to be a farmer, what produce would you grow? How would you grow it? -Make a list of all the vegetables you like, make a list of the ones you don’t-How would you solve issues of hunger in your community, write a plan, step by step. -Help mom or dad to clean/wash the produce – what do you see? Where are the flowering parts? Where are the roots? Where are the leaves? Where are the seeds? Does it grow on a tree, a stalk or in the ground? MUSIC (NEXT TUESDAY) Renowned Ukrainian Canadian Musical Comic, Ihor Baczynskyj, has created a musical educational show especially for our children. I seriously can’t WAIT! It is going to be hilarious.SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY (ON THURSDAY 2PM EST) Social Studies Project: Our Classroom, Our Community/Наш Гурток, Наша Громада Go to YouTube at 2pm EST THIS Thursday and search “UNF Kids Social Studies: Episode 1” on the Camp Soniashnyk YouTube ChannelConcept: As we go through this strange period in history together, I think it is appropriate to explore our Ukrainian Canadian History as a group together. Every week, children will listen to a little lesson on the History of Ukrainian Canadians and then students (of all grades) will answer a short series of questions about their place in our common history (on Survey Monkey). Goals:The following week after each class, I will explain the results of the homework to the class online using graphs, charts and maps, and show what our results means for us as a sample group of Ukrainian Canadians! (Curriculum points: Canadian Geography, Canadian History)Homework: To be done IMMEDIATELY after the show (will take exactly 2 minutes to answer) found here: LINK: SUPPORTING MOVIE/TV SUGGESTIONS: Focus: Our planet, ours to protect (reduce, reuse, recycle)(Available on Disney+, Netflix or YouTube) Wings of Hope (Disney Documentary on plants and pollinators– for kids 9+)The Bee Movie The Magic School Bus Rides Again: Ghost FarmThe Magic School Bus: Goes to SeedThe Magic School Bus: In a BeehiveThe Magic School Bus: Gets PlantedBBC Planet Earth: Plants ................
