PROGRAM DIRECTOR - LINDSAY JACKSON: 642-2298

Welcome to the 2012--2013 After School Program!

My name is Lindsay Jackson and I am the new Director for the Before and After School Program. Some students from Edna Libby may know me as Mrs. Jackson. I am a former Title I Reading Teacher for the district. I was happy to recognize so many familiar faces during the first week of school!

Because of my previous job, all aspects of learning, reading and education are some of my favorite things to share with others! I hope that as a group, we can combine education and learning activities, as well as a recreation and play time for all of the participating students.

Please feel free to contact me at the number listed above if you have any question, concerns, or comments about the program. We welcome suggestions and input and hope to have open communication between all of the afterschool participants, parents, and staff.

Thank you!

Reminders: If your child is not going to be attending the program, you need to call the After School Program Office

(642-2298) before 3:00 p.m. that day. Please send a snack with your child each day. We will not be providing snack for children in the afternoon. There is a lost and found box located by the sign-out sheet. Please check the box to make sure your child

has all of their belongings. It is recommended that toys, games, and electronics be kept at home. Please be aware (as stated in the hand-

book) that the program is not responsible for damaged, stolen, or lost items.

We celebrated National Play-Doh Day during the week of September 16th by making our own Play-Doh. Here is the recipe!

1 cup of flour (We ended up having to use more) ? cup of salt 1 package of Kool-Aid (unsweetened) 3 tablespoons oil 1 cup boiling water (We heated ours up in the microwave) Mix the flour, salt and Kool-Aid in a bowl. Add oil and water. Stir until blended. (This was when we noticed more flour was needed). Keep mixture in the bowl and knead with hands until soft. This Play-Doh can be put in a Ziploc bag and stored in the refrigerator for a few months.

Cleaning out?? Any donation of board games, craft materials, or books to the program would be greatly appreciated!
