SCRIPT FOR TOASTMASTERS OF THE DAY (TMD)

SESSION 1

Good morning President, fellow toastmasters and honored guests.

It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to Nanyang Brasstacks Toastmasters Club. I’d also like to welcome to our visiting Toastmaster _____________ who is here to join us today.

There are 3 main parts of our Toastmasters club meeting.

Firstly, The Table Topics Session, where members can practise their “Thinking and Speaking on their feet” skills. This session is also known as the Impromptu Speech section.

In part 2, which is the Prepared Speech Session; we have ___ members who will be delivering speeches based on the 10 projects from the basic Communication & Leadership Manual. In addition, ___ speakers will present their Advanced Projects. There will be Evaluation Session of prepared speech in part 3.

As Toastmaster of the Day, it is my duty to introduce the appointment holders who will assist in the running of today’s programme.

To keep track of the time spent by each speaker, we have a Timer and he/she is _____________. For AH-counter who keeps track of unwarranted fill words in the speech, we have _____________.

To handle the administrative and logistics matters we have our very own Sergeant-At-Arms for today’s meeting. He/She is Toastmaster _____________.

Now this is the moment that all of us are waiting for, the “Table Topics” session. This is the “Impromptu speaking” session. Please volunteer yourself for this speech.

The time allocated for each speaker is 2 minutes. At the 1st min, the green lights will be switched on by the timer. At 1 min 30 sec, the amber light will be switched on and at 2 min, the red light will be shown. The buzzer will be activated at 2 mins 30 sec. To make the session more challenging each member or guest is provided with a voting slip. To qualify for a voting, the participant must speak for at least 1 min and not more than 2 min 30 sec. At the end of the session you will be casting your vote and the Sergeant At arms will collect your voting slip from you. So do take up the challenge and speak.

SESSION 2

Let us continue with the second session of today’s meeting. As mentioned earlier for today we have speakers who are presenting from their Basic Communication and Leadership Manual and the Advanced Manuals. For today’s meeting Nanyang Brasstacks is proud to feature ___ fellow Toastmasters who will be delivering their prepared speeches.

TEA BREAK/ SESSION 3

We will now invite the Project Evaluators to give us their evaluations of the speeches delivered by the respective speakers. The time limit allowed for each evaluator is 2-3 min. At the 2nd min the green light will be switched on, at 2 min and 30 sec, the amber light will come on, and at 3 min the red light will be shown. The buzzer will be rung at 3 min 30 sec.
