Two Leaves Stencil

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Print template, enlarging or reducing the pattern to fit your pumpkin. 2. If using a real pumpkin, hollow and clean it out. When using a foam pumpkin, such as a Funkin, clean the outside. 3. Create a stencil by cutting out and discarding each shape from the pattern with a crafts knife such as a X-acto. 4. Attach the stencil to the pumpkin with painter's tape. 5. Trace inside the cutouts with a washable marker. 6. Remove the stencil. (If you don't like the look, simply wipe off the lines and start again.) 7. Using a small brush and black acrylic paint, paint the leaves. Do not paint the veins.

When using a foam pumpkin, such as a Funkin, clean the outside. 3. Create a stencil by cutting out and discarding each shape from the pattern with a crafts knife such as an X-acto. 4. Attach the stencil to the pumpkin with painter's tape. 5. Trace inside the cutouts with a washable marker. 6. Remove the stencil. (If you don't like the look, simply wipe off the lines and start again.) 7. FOAM PUMPKINS: On solid lines, use a crafts knife to cut all the way through the pumpkin; discard those pieces. With crafts knife, score surface along dotted lines, then peel away the finish inside the dotted lines (this is known as etching). Tip: We found a Dremel tool with a sanding tip eased removing the finish. REAL PUMPKINS: On solid lines, use a crafts knife to cut all the way through the pumpkin; discard those pieces. Tip: A linoleum carving tool (available at art supply stores) eases etching. You may want to etch before you carve to avoid breakage.
