Kelly Roberts, President

It's pretty hard to sit down and pen this article when you only get to participate in one event each month, so where should I start?

I hope everyone who had the opportunity to participate in the latest DE event enjoyed the experience. I want to thank all the instructors and volunteers for their time and continued commitment to ensure that those who attend have fun in a safe well managed event. Did you know that DE instructors don't receive any compensation for their time? Well it's true, every instructor volunteers his/her time to help make RSR DE events safe for everyone. THANKS!!!

I guess I missed out on a great time on Saturday June 4th. A number of you that attended the tour of RM Motorsports ? From Racing to Restorations in Wixom, told me about all of the great cars and how nice everyone at RM treated them. I was told that they started an old alcohol dragster right behind the shop. Boy I bet that was loud. I want to Thank Matt Huber for hosting this event for RSR.

On Sunday June 5th we all drove to St. Clair for Sunday Brunch at the River Crab Restaurant. It was an absolutely beautiful day for a drive through the Michigan countryside. Susan Sarin did an outstanding job of picking the route. All back roads with lots of twists and turns. We did have one minor set back when one of the cars experienced a little engine trouble, but in no time at all he was back on the road and we all made it to the restaurant in time. The meal and conversation was great. The time spent with old and new friends alike was the highlight of my day. All in all I think everyone enjoyed the day.

How about a PARTY? Susan and I have decided to throw a Birthday Party for Ferry Porsche. The party will get started around 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 18th at our home. I don't have all of the fine details figured out yet but we will be having hamburgers, hotdogs, cake and ice cream. Please RSVP by September 1st to Kelly Roberts this will help ensure we have enough cake for everyone.

We almost have the planning phase of the 2nd Annual Rally Sport Challenge to benefit Make ? A ? Wish Foundation? complete. It all starts on Saturday, August 20th with a Park ?n- Ride at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. Once registered you will be asked to park your vehicle in the appropriate Porsche category for judging by those attending. You will receive an information packet about the remaining events for the day after registration is complete. I don't think anyone will go away dissatisfied at the end of the day.

For those of you who can't get enough of the 914's (you know who you are) August 5 ? 7 will be the largest gathering of 914's in Michigan. The 914 Midwest classic is being held in Whitmore Lake at the Best Western at exit 53 off US23 (Hamburg/Whitmore Lake). You can go to for more details.

Until next Month, Kelly

Personal thought this month: When driving a Porsche it's not necessarily the destination, it's the joy of the journey.

Brunch Drive to the

Sunday, June 5th promised to be a wonderful day, and it certainly was in spite of the weather forecast of severe storms, which held off until late evening. We met at ten for the roughly two hour drive to the River Crab. There were twelve cars and some new faces, including a red Miata, which we might not have looked too favorably on, but it was driven by Gary and Carolyn Starin! We had a pleasant drive across country, through Clarkston, Oxford, Lakeville and Romeo, and other small communities. A slight hiccup occurred when Arnie Spieker's Beck Spyder had to be pushed out of an intersection. Fortunately Gary was close by to help fix the problem, and we all arrived safely at the River Crab to sample their ample Brunch. They had reserved parking for us, so that all the cars were together, it looked most impressive! Afterwards there was a sharing of sun block in preparation for the drive back home. I believe a good time was had by all. Maybe next year you'll join us when we try to do it again! Sue Sarin

RM Motorsports

About twenty five members gathered on June 4 at RM Motorsports to salivate over the smorgasbord of automotive hardware. We were treated to everything from classic American iron to exotic race cars and even an original slingshot AA/Fuel dragster. A special treat was to hear the nitro-methane powered rail started and to smell the exhaust of this mighty machine. We were also treated to pizza, salad and breadsticks for lunch. A special thanks to owner Bud Bennett and his staff for opening their shop on Saturday for us to enjoy. Glenn Trapp
