Course Description: This course is designed to acquaint students with the basic legal principles relevant to their roles as citizens, consumers, and employees through a mixture of personal, business, and consumer law. The content includes the basic characteristics of the American system of free enterprise, rights of private property, basic elements of contracts, employer-employee relations, landlords and tenants, individual rights, wills and estates, family and juvenile justice law, and community property. This course will include discussions and/or projects of sensitive material related to personal and family law.
Prerequisite: Grades 10 - 12
Course Objectives: Upon completing Business Law, the students will be able to address laws affecting both businesses and families. As laws emanate from different governmental and judicial entities, students must have a basic understanding of the law and the foundation of the legal system. The impact of international business and technology has created an additional demand for students to include this course in their academic preparation.

G. Discuss Consumer Law
H. Discuss Family Law

J. Explore Computer Law
K. Identify Legal Resources
Class Assignments:
• Students will reflect on Current Events pertaining to Business & Personal Law.
• Students will complete review activities from prior day’s lesson.
• Students will complete lessons practicing step-by-step instruction.
• Performance assessments will be completed following each lesson.
• Students will be required to keep a portfolio of all work completed. This portfolio will be kept by the students.
• Assessments will be completed daily (Classwork, Quizzes, and Tests using constructive response and performance event questions.)
