Clocks (Back to Listing on Top)

[pic] Mission Shelf Clock - Here is a timepiece distinguished by its timeless design. The clock’s clean, angular lines and tasteful details make it a fine gift...that is, if you can bear to part with it. Measures 9 1/2" tall.

[pic] Signature Shop Clock- A tradition-rich timepiece that says it all. Like all of the other projects we designed for Idea Shop™ 2, this wall-mounted clock had to meet two criteria. First, it had to perform its task well. And second, it had to be an attractive addition to our workshop.

To address the first, we selected a clockface with large numerals so that you can tell time easily from anywhere in your shop. And as for the second criteria, we think you’ll agree this clock is good enough to grace the wall of any workshop. Measures 12-3/4" tall by 13-7/8" wide.

[pic] Cutting-time-in-half shelf clock This oak and walnut clock will instantly give away your favorite hobby. And it will grab everyone’s attention whether sitting on a desktop, mantel, or bookcase. Clock measures 17” long.

[pic] Architectural clock Stately yet simple, this architectural clock can be built with just a tablesaw, router, and bandsaw or jigsaw. 7" high by 7" wide.

[pic] Simply stated Shaker clock Like wall clocks built by the Shakers in the early 19th century, our version features clean, unadorned design lines. Although the Shakers frowned upon watches, wall clocks abounded. Today collectors seek out the originals and pay dearly for them. Our clock measures 13" wide, 6" deep, and just under 3' tall

[pic] Arts & Crafts Mantel Clock It’s hard to beat the elegant good looks of handcrafted mission-style pieces. We’ve continued that tradition with this handsome 21"-tall tabletop clock. Quartersawn oak, tapered square buttons, and an “aged” copper face make for a timepiece guaranteed to garner compliments (and orders for more). So you can achieve these same results, see our Buying Guide for a source of quartersawn oak, copper, and clock parts.

[pic] Arched-top clock with drawers Here’s a winning clock design literally. Originally built by reader Larry Cardingley of Mardian, Idaho, this beauty was one of the finalists in our "It’s about Time" Clock-Building Contest. The clock stands about 14" tall and 8 _" wide.

[pic] Retro desk clock You don’t have to remember black-and-white television to enjoy this clock. The test pattern, rabbit-ear antenna, and retro styling are all you need to take you back to those thrilling days of yesteryear.

[pic] Mission-Style Shelf Clock Looking at the simple lines, graceful proportions, and figured grain of this clock’s quartersawn oak, it’s easy to see why mission-style pieces are so admired. To help you achieve the same results, see the Buying Guide for a source of quartersawn oak, the clock movement, and the mica back for the clock’s grille.

[pic] Wall-Hung Wristwatch If watchmaking on a larger scale interests you, try this 15"-long wall-hung or desktop clock. We supply a mail-order source for the movement and full-sized patterns for the curved pieces.

[pic] Arts & Crafts Clock Reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts style popular in the late 19th century, this easy-to-build oak clock will look right at home in any kind of decor.

[pic] School House Clock - This handsome school clock is typical of clocks manufactured by Seth Thomas and Ansonia, which in the past few years have become valuable collector's items. No other clock has a more prominent place in American history than this one. The plan details both the short drop and the more traditional long drop for longer pendulums. The plans list suppliers for the movement and the bezel. Size: 32" high (long drop) 22" (short drop) by 18" by 5 1/2" deep. Skill level Beginner

[pic] Mission Floor Clock Plan - This practical floor clock provides lots of space to store books, collectibles, videotapes or CDs. Plan includes FULL SIZE drawings for all curved pieces and shows how to cut a simple taper jig to cut the side pieces. Measures 65H x 13W x 8D.

[pic] The Keepsake Grandfather Clock Plans (F10):

Combining a collector's cabinet with an elegant floor clock, the Keepsake's Eight curio shelves allow you to display your glassware and collectibles. Options include the full mirrored back, beveled glass and shelves (as shown at left) and illumination by interior lights, mounted in the hood of the clock.

[pic] The Sir John A. Macdonald(F5) Proud and stately, our classic case is fittingly named after the senior member of Canada's Fathers of Confederation. The graceful proportions of this clock with its swan necks, finial, column supported pediment arch and more than seven foot height, will make it a treasured addition to any home.

[pic] The Aspen Close cousins in style and proportion, our Aspen and F. William Murray models share the same bevelled glass and crown mouldings as described under Hard-to-Make Parts. We recommended the same movements and dials for both the F. William Murray and the Aspen.

Stately - no word better describes our Aspen grandfather clock. Refined mahogany veneer laid over solid cherry in the crown and base lends the cachet of quality craftsmanship. Or choose the oak version, featuring a fine burled-oak overlay as shown on our Foresthill. Solid half-round columns, accented with end caps and intermediate turnings, flank the door.

[pic] Stylistic brothers, our Foresthill and Legacy models share key components. In making both, you'll use the same bevelled glass, the same crown mouldings described in the section Hard-to-Make Parts, and we recommend the same movements for the Foresthill as for the Legacy.

Fine figured veneer accents over solid hardwood distinguish the crown and base of this elegant Grandfather clock-burled oak in the oak version, and crotch mahogany in the cherry version. Flanking the door are solid half-round columns graced with end caps and intermediate turnings.

[pic] The William F. Murray Grandfather Clock Plans (F9): Standing a full seven feet high, the F. William Murray offers a hand-carved leaf design in the pediment and a tasteful decor in the base. The case features glass fitted sides and half pillars running the full height of the case on either side of the door. The design allows for easy construction while maintaining a classical elegance.

[pic] Colonial Times - We are very proud of our professionally produced plans for do-it-yourself customers.  Each plan features full-scale drawings of all contoured parts, bill of materials, and complete assembly instructions as well as the drawings.

[pic] Doghouse “Design a doghouse? Sure, nothing to it!” At least that’s what I thought before studying the material that the American Kennel Club sent on canine housing. It quickly became apparent that this was going to be a challenge. But I think I’ve risen to the occasion by working in features that guarantee plenty of “creature comforts” for your pet for years to come. Measures 47-3/4" long, 38-1/2" wide, 32-1/2" tall.

[pic] Doghouse Plans These dog house plans are the final result after years of alterations. We have been in business for 29 years and  have worked very closely with different law enforcement agencies to come up with the best design dog house for the handler and the dog.

[pic] Doghouse Construction I am very happy to present this collection of pictures and descriptions of dog houses built by readers all over the world. In this section you will see how different people approached the project, incorporating their own innovations and creativity. Click on the small image to see larger pictures and read about the various houses in the builder's own words. Please note that many of the builders have provided their e-mail addresses, so you may contact them directly if you have questions regarding their designs.

[pic] This doghouse is designed with the beginner in mind. It might even be a good project to involve the kids. The entire project requires only one sheet of plywood, two 2"x4"s and one 2"x2". All of these materials are available at your local hardware store.

[pic] Doghouse Are you in need of a rugged, easy to build, inexpensive, and optionally insulated doghouse for small to medium sized dogs? If you are, you're in the right place! Well, assuming you want to build the doghouse yourself anyway.

[pic] Doghouse You've got a roof over your head to protect you from the elements. Protect your four-legged family member, too, with this simple-to-build house. It'll give him shade on sunny days and a welcome shelter on rainy ones. And you can even decorate it to suit his unique personality!

[pic] Doghouse Home improvement may extend beyond your house to that of your pet. The family dog needs a good place to escape from the weather, and unless you're willing to let him in the house, maybe its time to work on that doghouse you've been meaning to build. Building a doghouse is a great family project. With these instructions a beginner level DIYer should be able to complete this project in a weekend, using common household tools. Lowe's is happy to provide this information as a service to you.

[pic] Natural Doghouses These wonderful, somewhat whimsical designs for dog houses can not only serve to house your canine companion in comfort, but can also give you the opportunity to experiment with a variety of natural building techniques. Each plan is plotted on vellum.

[pic] Ultimate Doghouse Constructed with T-111 5/8" wood siding, the dog house is designed to last many years and will serve as a strong barrier against the elements. The dog house plans are specifically designed for the novice as well as the more advanced.

[pic] Doghouse If you’re a handy do-it-yourselfer, you can get dog kennel plans on the Web to build your own doghouse in no time at all.  There are several websites that offer both free and paid dog kennel plans for downloading.  If you follow a few simple rules while building, you can create a beautiful and safe doghouse for your dogs to enjoy while outside.

[pic] Flat Roof Doghouse Plans

[pic] This is what the finished dog house will look like if you follow the dog house plans below. You can build a basic version in an afternoon from plywood, dimension lumber and shingles. It's a simple, sound design that handles a dog of 70 pounds or so. All framing is cut to just four lengths, shown as dimensions A, B, C and D in the diagram on the below. To change the overall size of the house, just change the four framing dimensions.

[pic] Doghouse Your dog will be healthier and happier if you allow him/her to live in your home. But if the winters in your area are not too severe, and your dog has been accustomed to the outdoors, he/she can be kept outdoors for part of the day in a properly constructed doghouse like this one shown here.
