Spanish study fulfills CPS World Language requirements, prepares students for college language requirements and increases their marketability in the global community.IBMYP Spanish II-consists of developing and refining listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the present past tense. There is also an emphasis on increasing awareness of Hispanic culture. Through the process of language acquisition students will increase critical thinking skills, develop proficiency in the language, appreciate the many differences and similarities among people in our own country and around the world, and be more open to meeting new people. Spanish study fulfills CPS World Language requirements, prepares students for college language requirements and increases their marketability in the global community.IBMYP Spanish III-course builds upon knowledge gained in Spanish I and II and increases expectations for students’ assimilation of all the “5 Cs” of the National Standards: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.IBMYP Spanish IV-students will learn Spanish as spoken by native speakers. They will learn how to listen, speak, read and write with greater accuracy in Spanish. They will expand their vocabulary in Spanish. The students will also gain a better understanding of the Spanish culture. Students receiving honor credits will be expected to work in greater depth and do supplementary work.AP Spanish-This course will help prepare students to succeed in the Advanced Language Examination. The student will engage in activities which will allow them to understand Spanish conversations, lectures, or the media. The students will learn to communicate ideas and facts successfully in Spanish. The students will be able to write as essay on various topics with sound structure and varied Spanish vocabulary.IBDP Spanish I and II-consists of developing and refining listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in all the grammatical tenses using a whole language approach. There is a tremendous emphasis on preparing students towards the oral and written I.B. examinations by using outside sources such as magazines, newspapers, letters and videos. Through the process of language acquisition students will increase critical thinking skills, develop proficiency in the language, appreciate the many differences and similarities among people in our own country and around the world, and be more open to meeting new people. FrenchIBMYP French I and French II-curriculum is closely aligned with specific Illinois learning goals and benchmarks with reference to the CPS Program of Study. The Standard-based curriculum incorporates focusing on reading, writing, listening and speaking French and understanding the culture. This will be done by incorporating different strategies in which you will be expected to participate: role play, writing letters, creating projects, and engaging in the target language.IBMYP French III and IV-curriculum is closely aligned with specific Illinois learning goals and Standards 28, 29, 30 and benchmarks with reference to the CPS Program of Study. The Standard-based curriculum incorporates focusing on reading, writing, listening and speaking French and understanding the culture. This will be done by incorporating different strategies in which you will be expected to participate: role play, writing letters, creating projects, and engaging in the target language. AP French Language and Culture -a college-level course for students in their fifth year of French. The curriculum is closely aligned with, College Readiness Skills, specific Illinois learning goals and Standards 3,16,17,18,28,29,30, and benchmarks with reference to the Chicago Public Schools’ Program of Study. The course is also aligned with the AP standards for mastery. The Standard-based curriculum incorporates focusing on reading, writing, listening and speaking French and understanding the culture. This will be done by incorporating different strategies in which you will be expected to participate: writing activities, creating projects, and engaging in the target language through music and film.IBDP French –prepares students for the rigors of the IB examination process through both oral and written tasks. The IB French curriculum this year will have a focus on themes of Global Issues, Social Relationships, Communication and Media, Leisure and Customs and Traditions as they are linked to the French speaking world. The Standard-based curriculum incorporates focusing on reading, writing, listening and speaking French and understanding the culture. Students are encouraged, and expected, to interact in French as much as possible. There will be opportunities for additional practice outside of regular class time. ................
