PHOENIX DAY CHILD AND FAMILY LEARNING CENTER

FACT SHEET

MISSION: The Mission of Phoenix Day Child and Family Learning Center is to ensure healthy child and family development within the Phoenix Enterprise Community. This is accomplished through quality educational childcare programs, nutrition and emergency food services, family support and referral, health awareness, summer programs, and volunteerism.

FACT: Phoenix Day Child and Family Learning Center, established in 1915, is a non-profit agency dedicated to the advancement of children and their families living or working in South Central Phoenix. We are a full service childcare center that operates Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old and up to age 9 during the summer time with nearly 85% living at or below poverty level.

We also provide families with educational and training workshops, which include parenting classes, budgeting, and health and nutrition classes.

Phoenix Day initiated a peanut butter and jelly sandwich program. At the end of the day, parents can take enough sandwiches to feed their entire family. Through public donations, we are also able to provide emergency food boxes to the community.

FUNDS: Our major funding sources are contributions, fundraising, United Way, foundation and corporate grants.

EVENTS: Phoenix Day currently has two major events: Crawfest, a Mardi Gras festival held in the spring, and the Dick Van Arsdale Celebrity Golf Tournament and Auction, held in September.
