The Domestic Violence Safety Planning Online Training is a practical resource for front-line service providers as they safety plan with women, children and families impacted by domestic violence.

The expressed need for training on domestic violence safety planning stemmed from the ‘No Private Matter: Honouring Christian Lee’ specifically calling for enhanced safety planning and cross sector coordination to address domestic violence. In response to this identified need, the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Branch (CSCP) in partnership with BC Housing and in collaboration with BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH), Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) and Police Victim Services of BC, undertook a project to develop the online domestic violence safety planning course.

The 8-10 hour online domestic violence safety planning training builds on the work of the Province’s Domestic Violence Action Plan and consists of 7 modules covering a range of topics including:

o working with women who have experienced domestic violence

o cross-sector coordination

o risk identification and safety planning

o safety planning with children and youth

Each learner will have 90 days to complete the training.

Anyone wishing to register for the training should submit the attached registration form. Registrations will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
