Professional Experience

Nike Inc. October 2003 – January 2004

As part of the NSC (Nike Supply Chain) APO DP (Advanced Planning and Optimization Demand Planning) development team my responsibilities include analysis, design, development of programs using Oracle 9i, PL/SQL and UNIX. Created views, pl/sql tables, partitioned tables, local indexes, packages, triggers, data load scripts, document UNIX processes, etc. Nike manufactures apparel and footwear/equipment product lines. Complex business rules are applied to meet the demand for these products. Part of the APO interface project is to extract and prepare large amounts (millions of rows) of product data from the OLTP system using complex logic and supply it to the downstream business warehouse system for further demand planning analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Review the functional specifications to meet the APO DP requirements.

• Interact with the business analysts to understand the business processes.

• Develop and review technical specifications to meet the requirements.

• Develop PL/SQL programs to meet the technical specifications. Adhere to the strict internal coding standards. Understand the custom developed infrastructure for the processes.

• Developed complex PL/SQL packages and XML wrapper functions to support the system and business functions.

• Received commendation from the Director of Merchandising and the customer and my immediate IS Manager for good work after my initial presentation of the business process model to the customer. Developed small Delphi applications.

XML wrapper functions: When a user sends information to be updated in the database the front end will automatically add XML tags to the information and passes the information to the back-end. The back-end procedures will need to understand the tags and remove them and take the appropriate information and store it in the database. Similarly when user requests information from the database the back-end procedures add the appropriate XML tags to the data and send it to the front end. A good knowledge of XML functionality is necessary to accomplish this task.
