Scheduling SmarterProctoring Exams

Hello and welcome to FSCJ's Distance Learning! You are taking a class that requires proctored testing, so we have prepared a series of short tutorials designed to instruct you, the student, on how to make your testing appointments. In our first tutorial, we'll show you how to make a Face-to-Face Testing Appointment.

How to make a Face-to-Face Testing Appointment

Your online class uses a test management system called SmarterProctoring. This system allows you to make testing appointments for each exam that your professor posts.

1). To make a Face-to-Face appointment for a Distance Learning Testing Session, first login to your class through Blackboard.

2). You can usually find the SmarterProctoring link in the "Tools" or "Tools and Resources" section of Blackboard. If you do not see the link in this location, please contact your instructor.

3). After selecting the link, please be aware that SmarterProctoring will open in a new window. You will first be asked to fill out a short registration form and then you will be directed to your Dashboard.

4). Once in the Dashboard, you will be able to see each exam that has been posted for the class.

5). Now locate the exam that you would like to make an appointment for and click on the "Select Proctor" button.

6). Next, select "Find Face-to-Face Proctor". A list of available FSCJ Distance Learning Testing Sites will populate. Carefully read the days and times on which the locations are available. Please also note that if you require testing accommodations beyond extra time, you will need to make an appointment through a campus assessment center. Now, select the site that you would like to use by clicking "Request Session."

7). You will now be directed to the RegisterBlast screen and can complete your appointment by clicking on "Continue Scheduling Session".

8). Choose a date by selecting the calendar icon in the "Choose a Date" field. Next, choose a time from the "Choose a Time" dropdown menu. Verify that your email address is correct, then carefully read and agree to the Exam Guideline Acknowledgement.

9). When finished, select the "Complete Registration" button at the bottom of the page, and your appointment will be confirmed. An appointment confirmation will be sent to the email address that you used to setup your SmarterProctoring account. Please print this out and bring it with you to your testing appointment.

10). You can now return to your SmarterProctoring Dashboard and verify your scheduled appointment. You can make a testing appointment for another exam, or you can log out of SmarterProctoring by selecting the "Sign Out" button.

*One final point that we would like to mention is that you can always login to SmarterProctoring to verify when and where your test is scheduled. You can refer to the "Location" area under the exam for the room number and the physical address.

How to Make a Virtual Testing Appointment

In our next tutorial, we will show you how to make a virtual testing appointment. With your professor's permission, you may choose to make an appointment using B Virtual, a testing service that is integrated with SmarterProctoring. Using a computer, a webcam and an internet connection, you can complete your exam without coming into a testing center. Please note that there is a fee for this service that varies depending on the duration of the exam.

1). To make a B Virtual testing appointment, first login to your class through Blackboard. 6). You can now select the "Use B Virtual" button and you will be taken to the B Virtual page. 7). Under the "Action Required" section at the bottom of the page, you can select the "Click Here" button under Step 2. 8). From the Session Details screen, you can select a day and a time to take your test. You will be asked to enter your credit or debit card information, and then you can select Submit Payment. 9). Your B Virtual Appointment will be confirmed, and an appointment confirmation will be sent to the email address that you used to setup your SmarterProctoring account. 10). On the day of the exam, you can login to SmarterProctoring and click on the "Start Virtual Session" button under the exam.

How to Schedule a Testing Appointment with a Campus Assessment Center

Our next tutorial will show you how to make a testing appointment with a Campus Assessment Center. Although we offer a variety of testing times and locations at Distance Learning Proctored Testing, FSCJ's campus assessment centers are also an option for online students.
