USGA rules govern play except as modified by local rules. All decisions will be made by the Rules Committee, with approval of the Executive Board, and their decision will be final.

Preferred Lies:

You may lift, clean and place the ball through the green within one GRIP length, not nearer the hole except in hazards (see USGA Rule 26 - Hazards). You may not improve your position from behinds trees or shrubs.

Exceptions: When on rocks, or bare ground, you may lift, clean and place no closer to the hole at your NEAREST POINT OF RELIEF. You may move off ant hills through the green at your nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.

10 Stroke Rule:

On regular play days, you pick up after 10 strokes to save time. A player may also pick up on a hole that does not count (odd holes on even days) after exceeding her strokes allowed by equitable stroke control, without being disqualified. This does not apply in tournaments, or when playing Ace of the Month.

Water Hazards:

All players in every flight will attempt to clear the water only one time and take the penalty (one stroke in one out) and then go around to the drop zone. (EXCEPTION FOR HOLE #13 AT MEADOWBROOK: Go around and drop in a line with where the ball crossed the hazard, (no drop zone is available)).

Eligibility to Play in the Club Championship:

To be eligible to play in the Club Championship Tournament, a member must have a current handicap index and have participated in play day activities a minimum of SIX (6) TIMES since January 1, 2018 with FWLGA. The Executive Board will rule on special cases.

Breaking Ties:

All ties in tournaments/games, gross or net, will be broken by matching score cards on the basis of best score for the last nine holes and if still tied, they will use the last six holes, then the last three holes. If still tied, they will use the 18th hole. If Net play, ½ handicap would be used. Play days broken by score card. If gross play, start with the #1 hole; if net play, start with the #1 handicap hole.

For the Club Championship only, ties will be broken by a sudden death playoff.

Playday Prizes: Surprise categories awarded in December at Christmas Party.

Scorecards:

All play day scorecards must be dated, attested, signed, and turned in to the play day chairman and turned into Meadowbrook Golf Course to be entered into the GHIN system.

Handicaps:

Each member is responsible for adjusting and posting all acceptable scores (play day and other scores from any golf course) into the GHIN scoring system. A new member, without an established handicap, must play, adjust, and post five acceptable scores before a handicap index can be established. When five scores are available, a handicap index will be determined by the handicap chairman and the individual may begin play in competition.

1. Scores to be used:

a. All 18-hole rounds.

b. Any two consecutive nine-hole rounds from the same golf course can be combined and used.

c. Rounds where at least 13 holes were played.

2. Adjusting scores for handicap purposes:

a. Use equitable stroke control chart.

b. If you start a hole but do not finish it for some reason, for handicap purposes, take your most likely score, not to exceed the score allowed under equitable stroke control.

c. If you stop playing after 13 holes, or if some constraints prevent you from playing a hole, you will take par plus any handicap strokes you would receive on that hole, based on your handicap. If only playing 13 holes, this will apply to the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th holes. (Important note: equitable stroke control does not apply in this case).

EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL TABLE

The following table specifies the maximum number that a player can post on any hole depending on the player's course handicap.

Course Handicap Maximum Posted

(Any Hole)

9 or less................................................................................................Double Bogey

10 through 19 7

20 through 29 8

30 through 39 9

40 through 49 10

For example:

A player with a USGA Handicap Index of 21.6 plays a course with a Slope of 120, resulting in a Course Handicap of 23. Under this procedure, that player is allowed a maximum score of 8 on any hole. There is no limit of holes this player may reduce to 8 during the round.

Slow Play:

If your group is playing slowly and a hole becomes open in front of you, allow the group behind you to go through, as long as that group is with the FWLGA. If the group ahead of you is paid customers not with the FWLGA, please do not ask them if you can go through.

To speed up play, ALL golfers should keep up with their own ball and PLAY READY GOLF. Every attempt should be made to complete 18 holes of play in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Guests are welcomed and allowed to play on any playday. A member bringing a guest MUST call the pairer of the month by 6:00 p.m. on the previous Thursday. Guests are not eligible to win awards or compete in any tournament on that day.

Chip-in Pot:

Before tee off, a player may opt to pay $1.00 to the pot. The chip in pot will be divided according to the number of chip-ins by each player and the money awarded accordingly. If there is no chip in winner for that day, the money will progress to the following playday.

Member's Hole-In-One Club:

The fee is $1.00. A player making a hole-in-one wins all money in the purse and a new hole- in-one will begin.

Ringer

If you choose to participate, the cost is $2.00. Each time you play at Meadowbrook and Rockwood, your best hole score is kept for the year. Prizes are awarded for the best score for net and gross.
