DATA TRANSFER INSTRUCTIONS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPLOADING YOUR DATA TO FTP

1. If possible you should zip all Data files into a single Zip file. (A free evaluation copy of WinZip is available at )

2. Copy the Zip file. A copy is performed by using Ctrl+C or by clicking Edit and then Copy.

3. Open your internet browser and navigate to . Substitute your own unique username assigned to you by Partners in Practice.

4. Another window will open prompting you for your username and password. Enter the username and password assigned you by your Partners in Practice Representative.

5. You are now logged into your own personal FTP site. Paste the Zip file you copied in step 2 above. A paste is performed by using Ctrl+V or by clicking Edit and Paste.

6. Your file should now be transferring and you may or may not see a status bar. Large files can take some time to transfer so please be patient.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USERS OF WINDOWS VISTA AND/OR INTERNET EXPLORER 7

If the above instructions in Step 3 do not allow you to login to the FTP site you may need to do some additional steps. Instead of using your internet browser to access the FTP site you can use Windows Explorer. To do this click on Start and then Run. Type the following on the run line: . Substitute your own unique username.

Alternately you can configure your Internet Explorer browser options to allow you to use the FTP site. To do this open the Control Panel in Windows and then open Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab and put a checkbox in the option to “Enable folder view for FTP sites”. Your copy of Internet Explorer may word the option differently but it should be very similar. Click Apply and OK and then close the Control Panel and attempt to access the FTP site again.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RETRIEVING DATA FROM FTP

1. Connect to the FTP site as instructed above.

2. Locate your finished conversion data file. If more than one file exists, this file should end in .zip. If you are unsure what file to download when multiple files exist please contact Partners in Practice.

3. Copy and Paste the .zip file to your computer.

4. The .zip file will need to be unzipped into your Data directory. For assistance installing the completed conversion data please contact DENTRIX Support at 1-800-336-8749, option 2.
