I like CAP because its fun, motivational and it brings out the talent in young adults.

C/A1C Ryan Vaughn

I like CAP because it will help me get into the Air Force and be a pilot. CAP also helps me with my drill and how to be a leader, which will help me in my JROTC program at St. Thomas Academy. I also joined CAP to help me just be a better person overall.

C/SSgt. Michael St. John

When I first joined CAP, I thought the coolest thing was how military-like everyone was, and how neat the uniforms looked. But now, the new cadets look at me and think the exact same thing.

C/A1C Bryan Peterson

Civil Air Patrol has taught me more about leadership and discipline in one year, than I learned at any time in my life. Its training is almost essential for anyone interested in the military, and is important in everyday life. CAP teaches respect, self-discipline and teamwork and is a whole lot of fun at the same time.

C/SSgt. Peter Weidenbach

I love CAP because it teaches future leaders. It teaches you to be a decent, loyal person to your family, friends, work and nation.

C/Sgt. Joel Bechthold

I joined CAP because of the search and rescue and flying benefits. I have learned that there are many other opportunities that CAP can provide that I wouldn’t have experienced in the civilian world. It’s hard to sum up all of the things that CAP has to offer in just a couple of sentences.

C/MSgt Aaron Hardisty

I think I joined CAP because I liked the way things were run and I liked the fact that someday I might be able to help out a person in need of the services that CAP provides (emergency services). I believe CAP is a great organization that teaches morals, honor and leadership and I would recommend joining to anyone.

C/A1C Ben Barsness

The best thing I like about CAP is how you feel important. Instead of playing Sega, you look for downed airplanes, lost people, learn about emergency services and a lot of other things.

C/Sgt. Mike Johnson

I have joined CAP for a couple of different reasons. The first was to learn about aerospace and to go flying. Since I have joined, I had not gone flying. Now that I have gone to encampment, I have gone flying twice in a Cessna, and once in a helicopter. I also gained a lot of leadership skills. I am very grateful for this and I believe that CAP has been a good experience.

C/AMN Mike Hreha

I joined CAP because I love the military. CAP gives me leadership skills that no one else can give. I plan on going into the Air Force after high school, and CAP is giving me the “edge on life.”

C/Sgt. David Moore

CAP is great! You make new friends and do a lot of great activities.

C/Jeremy Pflugradt

CAP is the hardest thing I have ever done. However, I meet many people who become really friends, I learn things I never even knew about and I have a great time. CAP is a great experience which I urge young and older people to join.

C/AMN Mollie Gustafson

I like CAP because it’s fun and exciting. It teaches you team work and prepares you for a military career.

C/AMN Kevin Odette

I like CAP because it gives you a chance to live like a military person. It gives you the self-motivation and determination to do good in school as well as normal life. You can get an education that either costs a lot or does not exist anywhere else, for really nothing. For me, CAP is both something I love and am proud and honored to be in. I can’t think of a better organization that a teenager can be in than CAP.

C/Sgt. Peter Rampaart

I think that encampment is an excellent experience for cadets to go to. It teaches cadets leadership, followership, how to stand to the challenge and rise to the situation. I think the cadets of the 1996 encampment will turn out to be excellent leaders. I think encampment helps us not only for Civil Air Patrol, but also for life, knowing we are the future for our military and country.

C/Sgt. Angela Schmidt

I like CAP because I am planning to enter the Armed Forces after High School and it more than prepares me in advance for the challenge of Service life. CAP also gives me motivation to be a leader in all aspects of my life.

C/AMN Jonas Penna

I joined CAP because I like flying and learning about planes. I also like the marching and I might go into the Air Force. I would also like to learn how to be a leader.

C/SSgt. Blane Pierson

What I like about CAP is the aviation and search and rescue.

C/Tim Lies

Since I am not involved in a lot of school activities, CAP gives me something to say and be proud of when people ask me what kind of extra-curricular activities I’m in.

C/A1C Blake Fenske

The reason I am in CAP is, because I have admired the military, especially the Air Force, for a very long time and I love flying. I also like CAP because it helps me find new friends.

Civil Air Patrol has done for me what no other organization has. It is unique in the fact that it is so military oriented. The experiences gained from this type of organization will probably last me the rest of my life.
