More information at IS DISTRICT CONVENTION?378345538100District Convention, commonly referred to as DCON, is a three-day annual convention held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, NC. This year, District Convention will be held from March 16th-18th. The District Convention and Leadership Conference serve several purposes:To recognize Key Clubs and individuals for outstanding service during the year.3976872266700To build enthusiasm and motivate membership.To educate and inspire Key Club members.To train new Key Club officers.To elect new District officers and conduct the business of the District.To share ideas, projects, and experiences with hundreds of Key Club members.To have lots of fun!The Kiwanis FamilyKiwanis- Our parent organization. They are just like Key Club, but are adults instead.Key Club (us)- High school version of Kiwanis. KEY stands for Kiwanis Educating Youth. Largest member of the Kiwanis Family.Circle K- Collegiate level of Kiwanis. Is small right now and doing its best to gain members.Aktion Club- For adults with disabilities. The newest member of the Kiwanis Family and are also focusing on gaining members.Builder’s Club- Middle school level of Kiwanis. An attempt to start more Builder’s Clubs this year will be made at Holly Grove Middle School.K-Kids- Elementary school level of Kiwanis.Key Club’s Preferred CharitiesThirst ProjectTheir goal is to provide fresh water to those villages and countries who are in need of it as well as to educate people on the Global Water Crisis and inform them of ways they can help.March of DimesThe mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund)The only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children, this charity works with other United Nations bodies, governments, and non-governmental organizations to assist in children’s needs through community-based services.Children’s Miracle NetworkThe goal of Children’s Miracle Network is to raise money for hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals.The Boys and Girls Homes of North CarolinaThe Boys and Girls Homes of NC, located in Lake Waccamaw, NC, aims to help kids who have been neglected, abused, or orphaned, and provides a safe place for them that they can call home.
