How to Use IXL Math

How to Use Raz Kids

1. Go to

2. Enter the login name: smallgroup (You should see the teach name Anna Lassoff.)

3. Click on the button with your name.

4. Enter your password.

Once you log in, you will be on a page with two tabs at the top: Assignment and Raz Rocket.

Assignment

The top of this page lists the student’s name, rank (rank goes up as students read more), progress in the particular assignment, and stars earned. Clicking the arrows will show the stars required for the next rank and the number of each type of activity completed.

The page then shows all the books currently on the student’s bookshelf. Beneath each book are a variety of icons.

• Ear – clicking on this will allow students to listen to the book being read aloud while they read along.

• Eye – click on this will allow students to read the book on their own. Highlighted words can still be clicked and will then be read out loud.

• Question Mark – this leads to a quiz that will be taken at the end of the book.

• Papers – this link leads to the worksheets I may assign the students to work on after reading the book.

You will notice that some of the books on this page have quizzes and worksheets included and some do not. The ones that only have the listening and reading icons are for students to read independently. Eventually, these other activities may be added to these books.

Unless I assign a quiz or worksheet as a homework assignment, please do not complete these at home. When students work on these activities in the classroom I am better able to judge their level of independence.

If you have a microphone, students can also record themselves reading out loud and I will be able to listen to the recording afterwards.

Raz Rocket

For each book read or activity completed, students gain stars, which they can then spend to outfit their rocket with aliens, robots, telescopes and other fun items. This is a fun way for students to see their progress and a good motivator for students to read more often.
