Radiation, Convection, and conduction project
Student Name:
Project Due Date: December 15, 2015 (ABSOULTELY NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED)
Project Choice (letter):
Conduction, Convection and Radiation (Heat Transfer) Project
Objective: To create a project that shows heat transfer by means of conduction, convection and radiation.
Your job:
• Provide an explanation of the process of convection, radiation and conduction (heat transfer)
• Examples of a visual
o Pictures
o Videos
o Drawings
Project Type A) What the project will look like with the use of technology in the form of pictures:
o Find a process at home that represents ALL three types of heat transfer conduction, convection and radiation.
o Take pictures of the steps, label the steps, and print the pictures out.
o Provide a written definition and explanation (in blue or black ink) or typed of the three types of heat transfer your pictures represent and place them on a poster board.
How you will be graded
|Definition and explanation of each type of heat transfer (15 |Conduction |
|Points Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Proper representation of each type of heat transfer (15 Points |Conduction |
|Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Neatness |5 Points |
|Name and Class Period |5 Points |
Project Type B) What the project will look like if you are using technology in the form of a video:
o Find a process at home that represents ALL three types of heat transfer conduction, convection and radiation and video the process. The videos should be less than one minute for each type of heat transfer.
o Email the videos to me at (cglemmons@wsfcs.k12.nc.us), or attach them to thumbdrive/flashdrive or bring in a device to school to show the three types of heat transfer. Your assignment should be emailed by 11:59pm on December 14, 2015. Please include your name in the subject line of your email ie: Ashley Hall’s Heat Transfer Videos. Please make sure all videos are in MP4 or MOV formats.
o Mrs. Lemmons is not responsible for any lost or stolen electronic devices.
o Provide a written definition and explanation (in blue or black ink) or typed of the three types of heat transfer your videos represent.
o You will be presenting your videos in class, and turning in the written definition and explanation portion of your heat transfer project.
How you will be graded
|Definition and explanation of each type of heat transfer (15 |Conduction |
|Points Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Proper representation of each type of heat transfer (15 Points |Conduction |
|Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Neatness |5 Points |
|Name and Class Period |5 Points |
Project Type C) What the project will look if you create a poster for all three methods of heat transfer:
o Provide a visual representation of each type of heat transfer taking place. The pictures must be in color (using colored pencils or markers), from the computer or magazine.
o Provide a definition and explanation (blue or black ink) of each type of heat transfer.
How you will be graded
|Definition and explanation of each type of heat transfer (15 |Conduction |
|Points Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Proper representation of each type of heat transfer (15 Points |Conduction |
|Each) |Convection |
| |Radiation |
|Neatness |5 Points |
|Name and Class Period |5 Points |
