Poll Everywhere

How it works:

Your students respond by text or through a computer interface

Then you can display the real-time results as they come in to the poll:

Once you sign up for an account (make sure you click I am an educator), it will immediately walk you through the process of creating a poll.

You can choose what kind of answer you will need and how your responses will be displayed. For multiple choice, I would choose "text wall" and for open ended a word cloud is fun. Once finished, click create. You will then get a screen like the following for a "word cloud"

There are many things you can do with these polls such as embed into powerpoint, turn on and off, put into a webpage, etc. Mostly, they are great for immediate feedback and are EASY to create and EASY to use if you are in a school with a bring your own device policy. Kids can also share phones since it only matters that they vote, not that you know WHO is voting.
