Byron Wood Academy – Astrea Academy Trust

Hi Y6 Oak and Elder and all of you who are in my groupsI hope you are all safe and well, and that your families are too. Things are really weird at the moment aren’t they? At first it just felt like a bit of a holiday from school, but then after a week of not being able to go anywhere or do any of the things we are so used to doing, I found it all a bit hard. It’s been amazing to have so much time at home with my little girl though. I’ve tried to give her new activities to have a go at everyday using things that we already have around the house. On hot days we’ve played in the garden with sand and water.-28575019685000We made ‘snow’ (4 cups of flour and 1 cup of oil). She loved this and SO DID I. You should try it! We made little snowmen, and wrapped pipe cleaners around their necks for a scarf and also stuck some in for arms.Yes, she’s sticking something in its head too!498157512700000We’ve made dens in the living room.Made Easter cards to send to her grandparents, who we’re all really missing, and her little friends from playgroups too. We’ve painted a rainbow for our front window.4984115192405Our rainbow00Our rainbowPainted monsters to hide in the garden and in the little forest bit of our local park when we go out for our daily walk. We also had a mess about with 3D animals in our house. Have you tried it? Type the name of an animal (not all animals work but you can find a list online) such as emperor penguin into google on a phone then click ‘view in 3D’. The animal appears on your screen and looks like it’s in the room. Really funny. My 488315000daughter didn’t understand though. She was walking round the room looking for the animals which made it funnier (hee hee!).This is the emperor penguin in my living room.354584012700000470789012700000Been nice for our cats that we’ve been home every day. I think they’ll be sad when things go back to normal. Here they are both actually looking like they’re about to pounce on me.Oh! I also finished reading The Last Wild at home and really loved it! Read a few more of the Grimm Tales too!Us Y6 teachers have set you some work and activities to have a go at. Try and do as much of it as you can to keep up with your learning and so you don’t forget everything you’ve already learnt. You can send completed work and any pictures of things you’ve been doing at home to Y6Elder@ or Y6Oak@. Miss you all!Look after yourselves and your families and try and stay positive and find fun things to do. E-mail us if you need us.Can’t wait to hear from you,Mrs O’Brien ................
